Saudi Arabia follows creation of LIV golf with $1 billion sponsorship deal by Aramco

If I ever retire for good -- which isn't a sure thing; I’ll likely be divorced before I’m retired, at this rate -- maybe I'll use my ridiculous wealth to personally sponsor the Boston Marathon (if it is ethically possible for me to both fund the race and win in the men's wheelchair division, which I plan to do after blowing out my left ACL and MCL again, but this time in a spat with Gisele, and my right ACL on the football field in Week 2 of the season about to begin.)
Or former Coach Bill Belichick will be the primary sponsor. The Boston Marathon press conferences will be memorable, and short, with Bill at the helm!
Please excuse me, as my brain's scrambled...but I won't "go Hernandez" for another three-plus years, after I win one wheelchair race and preside over three years of festivities, in
all.
By the way, Gronk plans to run the first mile in 2023’s race, party on a bus all the way to downtown Boston, jump back into the race on Commonwealth Ave near the turn to Hereford St (approaching the finish), and officially finish in a time precisely matching Rosie Ruiz’s “winning” time in 1980. Then, on the Wednesday after the Monday’s Patriots Day race, he’ll catch the winner’s trophy that I heave to him on an adjoining boat in Boston Harbor.

Title says it all - 2023 is the last Boston Marathon with John Hancock as principal sponsor. Who is next? It should be a Boston-based company.
I'm rooting for Dunks.
TD Bank.
John Hancock only made 1 billion off hedging last year, parent company from Canada cut the sponsorship. All the major running shoe companies pulled just as much in revenues and 1000s of companies make more. It will get a sponsor in seconds, free tv ad placement and advertising to 50,000 runners and their families.
better be Costco

If anyone is surprised by this, then you haven't been paying attention. Life insurance companies are hurting and seeing a 40% increase in non-covid related death payouts. When the jabby-jab is killing people, the life insurance companies are going to suffer and the funeral homes will prosper. John Hancock has no choice but to end their sponsorship. In the end they're a business, and when their bottom line starts suffering, they have to find ways to cut costs. They see the writing on the wall. You should too.
Let the Boston Marathon die, they were on the side that called us plague rats and tried to get us fired from our jobs.
John Hancock sponsored the marathon for 40 years and had a sign above Fenway Park for 30. The company was bought by a Canadian corporation back in 2003 or 2004 and I am surprised it continued to sponsor for as long as it did following the acquisition. Whether it is because of the cost/benefit or perhaps the sponsorships had just run their course, 4 decades is pretty impressive.
In this economic climate, the challenge will be real to find a sponsor willing to pay the sponsorship fee, that's for sure. I hope that can be done quickly though because the Boston Marathon is one of the best road races in the world and its the best event in the city hands down.
No one mentioned Pfizer yet? They are also pro transgender

Bring back the Pru. The building's still there. Just move the start and finish lines back a few feet. Boston is the only marathon with any name recognition outside the runner dweeb community, with possible exception of NYC. Instant in-person brand exposure to 30,000 runners who will buy just about anything and a half million spectators. What's not to love?

Extra trolling credit for tying the Boston Marathon sponsorship to anti-vaxxer BS. But the fortunes of a financial services company like JH are tied to their ability to manage their investments and hedge against losses in equity markets. Manulife has done as well as anyone in the current market and their stock is probably a buy right now. But everyone is anticipating a recession and Manulife is just being proactive in belt tightening. They dumped the Red Sox and the Boston Marathon sponsorship is probably chicken change in comparison.
Is John Hancock even a thing anymore? Irrelevant company no longer willing to spend money so people can wonder what they do.
