One of the main reasons runners 1500m and up need minimum bench press, military press, arm press and arm curl strength, runners, even 1500m runners, need to be able to free weight squat x 2 body weight. Maybe the 1/2 Marathoners and Marathoners can get by with free weight squatting 1.5 x body weight. I sure hope J.I. can free weight squat at least 315 pounds.
Your name says it all: you have no clue about the needs of a distance runner or even a mid-distance runner.
Most national/international level marathoners, 5/10k runners and even 1500m runners absolutely can NOT squat 1.5x bodyweight.
If you took the top 50 800m runners on earth to a weight room right now, many of them wouldn't be able to, either. They are strong and generate tremendous power in their stride action, but many don't train this specific movement.
