Are apple cores litter? I told my kids that it was OK to throw them out the window.

You were in the right. Back in the not-so-distant past, anti-littering ads were everywhere. People were made to feel ashamed if they even thought about littering. This is no longer the case - you'll never see a person over the age of 30 littering. I believe the main culprits are today's teens - fast food garbage litters the streets on any given Saturday morning.
Entitled little brats - and it's our fault for raising them as such.
Knock on same window with sidearm holstered.
Say same polite statement.
Better results.
You should have put the apple core back in his car when the window went down. "Here you go, you dropped this on my lawn." Then walk away.
Different problem here - we won a corner house that faces onto a road leading to the shops and park. People allow their dogs to walk on our lawn and poop! I confront the owner every time I see it and make them pick it up. If they do not have a plastic bag then I supply them with one.

Didn’t read, you are wrong in your idea of paragraph lengths.
Sea of text bad. White space good.
The better approach would have been to write down their license plate number, find out where they live and dump all of your trash on their lawn. See how they like it!
I dig ya. I'd hate this. I yell at the dog owners who've fucjng mutts piss all over my grass and flowers. Fuuck your dogs. Do your shiit at home on your own lawn.

IMO the worst are cigarette smokers. Of all ages. Smoldering butts (good name for a rock band) thrown out the car window or dropped in the gutter by walkers.
Out training. Had to stop at an intersection. Cars are backed up. Two guys in a work truck are smoking and one throws a smoldering cigarette out the window and it lands about a foot in front of me. I look up to see the light is turning yellow going the other way so I bend down like I'm about to tie my shoe. Slightly kneel, pick up the cigarette as the truck gets ready to move on the green and I throw the cigarette back in the window as the truck starts across the intersection. No way for the truck to stop with cars lined up behind it wanting to going through the intersection. I just turned and kept going on my run. Not really something I would normally do by nature, but in the moment maybe from fatigue or just the fact I hate people littering something just clicked and I responded. It all happened pretty fast.

I'll just point out that it's legal to trim your lawn with a scythe.
If you are heavyset and hirsute, then you can dress as close to Paulie from Rocky as possible. Wear your wife beater!
I think I'm rather hirsute:
Several years ago I was walking through a crowded parking lot. Car glides slowly past me with one window down. Beer can comes flipping out the window and hits the pavement in front of me. Before I thought it through, I picked up the can and flipped it back into the car. Somewhere in there I realized there was still a good bit of beer remaining in the can -- When the can flew back through the window, beer went all over the inside of the car.
There were four guys in the car, but I didn’t even realize this until the beer started flying. In situations like this, I instinctively escalate, so I bent down a bit, glared into the car and said, “Hey! Keep your cans in the car!”
I must have looked scary or something, because the guys in the car (maybe in their 20s, while I was late 30s) started apologizing right and left.
Lucky for me. Mentally I was getting ready to run for it if any of the car doors started opening.
Don’t confront people you don’t know, unless you’re me and just do stupid things all of the time.
Once when walking down the street with a friend of mine, someone tossed an empty cigarette pack out of an open car window in front of us. Without breaking stride, he picked it up and tossed it back through the car window.

At least never do this on the highway. Apple cores on the shoulder attract rodents. Raptors swoop down to get the rodents and end up getting hit by cars.
If it’s trash, you have every right! A biodegradable apple core? Come on now, do you guys really consider an apple core to be littering. A bird or squirrel would have taken that within a day

You are right but you might get shot.
I think we need to confront people a lot more often with their BS they are doing.
Nobody has ever been shot for that.
I always say something if I see someone litter. In fact, one time i picked up the trash and after a terse verbal exchange I threw the litter back in the offender's car through the window. He didn't do s$it about it. Don't be a pu$$y in life, afraid to do anything, step out of line, etc.

Throw an apple core in my lawn and you get it returned to you at high velocity. That doesn't degrade overnight, dude. Not even close. Are you ok if I took a dump on your front porch? Pissed on your car? It just washes off with the rain, right?

You would be surprised a lot are adults of all ages. The adults are just more careful. Out running you see a lot
Kids I can understand but adults should know better. The worst are people littering from cars its not like they have to carry it. I think its actually a deliberately antisocial behavior like vandalism.
I have confronted numerous people, one a traffic warden. Chucking the backing of a ticket for someones car! He said there is nowhere to put it. I pointed out a bin right behind him.
The last 4 people in a car on my road. The girl carefully place there coffee cups on the pavement. I carefully placed them back through the car window.
You are right about the adverts we used to get them in the UK as well but not for years
You should have punched them square in the face, wrestled them to the ground, and make them scream, “UNCLE”
Then steal their car and drive it into a river.
