Well it's that time of year again...
1) Does Big Jim finally have a chance, or is it another routine win for Kilian? Anyone else?
2) No Courtney or any other previous women's champion in the field, so who emerges?
Here's the men's preview, I'll dig up the women's in a few:

1. Jim has a chance for sure. He seems to get smarter with each running, but the thing about ultras is that while training and race intelligence are two huge factors, there are many others, some of which you can control (nutrition) and others you cannot (body some times just goes awry). kilian isn't tip top coming in, so he is vulnerable. but there are a number of people who could challenge for the win in this one, so it'll be fun to follow along.
2. its wide open!! really wish sabrina stanley was running. mimmi kotka ran incredible well behind courtney last year, but i don't know enough about this field to even venture a guess. will be fun to follow as well!
3. i do like the top american questions.... i don't think it'll be zach miller, he's just had a lot of ups and downs in the past few years and i think his body isn't what is used to be (maybe the cost of the hard charging style we all love). really hard to see anyone else from the US beating jim, though tim tollefson is due for a good race this year. he's had some incredible training with tough race results... and is generally just super likable. hillary allen is great in the mountains and i expect she'll have a good showing here.
glad there are at least a few folks on this board who also like ultras!
