In the cycling world, the very best women look spectacular when racing one-another.
Put them in a field of Category 3 men, which is a class of competitors one step removed from pizza and beer on the couch (or say 48 minute 10K fitness), and the men walk all over them.
Fact.
Thanks for the observation. Check back again when you have more.

Fact? Lol. Maybe your statement about "category 3" cyclists easily beating the best women cyclists is a fact [ I have no idea what category 3 means as far as ability goes], but the next part of your statement is definitely not a fact and makes no sense.
*IF*..... a "category 3 cyclist" is just a bit better than the fitness required for an equivalent Runner who performs a 48 minute 10K Runner [ as you suggest]... then you are dead wrong. One Step removed? So what does that mean, 44 minute 10K fitness? News flash the best women in the world run 29 minute 10k's, which is MANY "steps removed" from "48:00 10k fitness".
Fact.
Stop exaggerating to try to diminish women's performances.
[ and no I am not some defender of anything related to female sports. Quite the contrary. But I do hate stupid statements]
Heck, if 22 years old S. Coe happened to be 22 years old in 1976, he would have raced 1500m for bronze. He has never kicked the way John Walker and Ivo van Damme kicked last 300m, 1976 men 1500m final.

Coghlan finished just behind Van Damme and Walker, so you're also saying that Coghlan could outkick Seb Coe over the last 300m of a slow 1500.
What about 22 year old Coe in the 72 final? Coe aint never seen somebody like Wottle coming from back of the pack like that.
Couglan finished behind Paul Heinz Wellman, not van Damme. Wottle had winning spirit, 1976 Olympics, men 1500m final. D. Wottle may have even held the lead for a meter or two but Walker & van Damme were too much for D. Wottle that day. S. Coe, to my knowledge has never joined the sub-38 final 300m club. That is why Walker and van Damme are important in this discussion. Most likely, the sub-38 final 300m club in a 1500m race most likely has less than a dozen members.
