No, American 1500m running is not "as strong as it's ever been." So far, it's all promise and no delivery.
As you point out, there are good reasons to expect American runners to deliver on that promise next year. But until then, it's sill y to say that this co-hort is as strong as the Lagat, Manzano, Centro group. They aren't there yet. They aren't even close.
I’m still floored we don’t know what the Hocker/Teare coaching situation is. Isn’t this a running news site?
How do you pronounce Teare’s name, is it like “tear”?
This field is ridiculous. The slowest guy has run 3:34.59, the second slowest 3:32.93. Only missing Wightman and Heyward.
I'm expecting this to go out fast with Jakob looking towards a 3:27. He wouldn't run this just for fun, he'll want to achieve something he hasn't done before - why race this otherwise? He's not tuning up for anything, and he's coming off a double at the Euros. He's not running just to win another race, he'll want to run very fast. This could be the best 1500 race of the year, which is saying something after the races we got at World's and Commonwealth's.

Because he needs/wants to secure qualification to the DL 1500 final in Zurich.
I don't know if Jakob will be able to peak to 3:27 level again this year.
Last year he peaked for the Olympics, then he never ran faster than 3:31 for the rest of the year...
This year he peaked for the WC, will he be able to peak again ?
This is a pretty disingenuous take. Jakob only ran 2 1500/miles post Olympics, one of which was the Pre Classic where he ran a 3:47 mile, which converts to 3:29 in the 1500m. The other was the DL final which was more tactical.
His peak might have been the Olympics but he was still very fit and close to PR shape in the races after.

Heyward is running, but not Katir and Wightman. Jakob is in great shape, and may be, just may be, gentleman Tim and Hoare can follow him the last 500 meters.

They just added Gonzalo Garcia (3:35 SB, European Champs Finalist) to the field. My guess: They threw a nice payday at him to take this through 1,000 meters in 2:18 or 900 meters at that same tempo.
Jakob is running this because it is set up to be the fastest 1500 of the season and possibly in the 3:27 range. Everyone is rested and theoretically in top shape (besides maybe a tiring Heyward/Garcia Romo/Gourley). Kipsang, Hoare and Cheruiyot have gotten a break from a lot of racing. Kerr and McSweyn are hopefully back at top form.

And he ran 3:29:05 ...
Honestly I hope I'm wrong and that he will run fast in Brussels but I don't think he'll run < 3:28:50.
This year he won't see a new PR I'm afraid.
Believe that was his 2nd fastest 1500k ever (about 3/4 of a second off his OG PR) and superior to his mile PR earlier this year, making it the fastes 1500/mile of the year.
Saw the video after the race where he was saying the time was a little slow and I thought he must have run 3:31 or something.
But 3:29.05 with total domination of a field that had all the top runners save Wightman was very impressive
I know this is going to be unpopular in this forum but the only rival of Ingerbrigsten in the next few years will be Mohamed Katir. This depend on how he progress in his training in the next month. After him I put the name of the Australian McSwym.

Jakob after the race said to the Norwegian television that it wasn´t a perfect run admitting that he too was a little tired and stating that the conditions weren´t perfect either.
We can add that - allthough the pacemaker was doing a good job - the pace at 800m was off with just over half a second. That Monaco normally has 2 pacemakers with pace to about 1100m. And finally that Jakob had asked the light to be set at 3:28 and then the organizers changed it to just under 3:30 without telling him?!
I agree that there hardly will be run a very fast time in the DL 1500m final in Zürich in 14 days.
Jakob is already looking forward to next season where there is only 1 championship stating that he will be able to participate in many more races (presumably mainly AFTER the 2023 worlds).
Finally he claims he is able to run much faster. And the Ingebrigtsens normally know what they are talking about since they (from their ever recorded training times) know exactly how they may be developing.
