Yeah, I'm not big on flags and medal tables and stuff; I 'support' athletes based on who (I think) they are, rather than nationality.

I remember seeing, 20 years back (maybe 20+) -- the Ethiopians would take the victory lap as a team. Haile or Kenny would win, but they'd group together and trot about.
I have no problem with silver and bronze doing a wee little jig with their flag, it's cool. Actually, nationalism and patriotism are intended as a manipulation on the whole, meant to inspire the young to sign up to be cannon fodder.

In a way that's actually true. It's wiser to look for something that you can be the absolute best in the world at.

The French "Spiderman" guy who climbs up buildings found something to be the best at. So it doesn't have to be silly Guinness Book stuff, there's still more than 7 billion impressive feats to achieve.
Wrong. There are many counterexamples. For instance, it is wiser to be a mediocre pro athlete in a big money sport than quitting to find some obscure thing you are the "best" at. The minimum salary in major league baseball is $700,000.
