She's built far less solidly than Genzebe Dibaba, who holds the 1500m world record.

There are and have been lots of "heavy" 1500m runners who've won major medals. Examples: Kelly Holmes, Svetlana Masterkova, Steve Ovette, John Walker, Makhloufi, Ingebrigtsen, Hoare, Kerr, etc.

Power to weight ratio isn't as critical in the mid-distances as it is in the 5k and up (some can even get away with it in the 5k, if their engine is big enough).

The question is whether she has the aerobic development to transition up.

If she doesn't win. Change tactics. So much potential at only 20 years old. TBH she already runs far better than a lot of seasoned pros.

She's 20. It would hardly be the end of the world.

Has she run a PB this season? Has she stagnated?

She doesnt need to win to be my favroite. Easy to root for her because she beaitiful and charming. She's funny.

I think she is a more consistent racer this season. Has she finished lower than 2nd in an 800m race this year? That being said, she had some training interruptions and I think the way she has raced aggressively going with the pace early and running up front does mean you have to be supremely fit for the last 100 meters (see Goule's struggles in big races). A couple times this year specifically with Moraa and even with Mu the last 25 meters she just hasn't had the big finish at the end. I think she was over 15 for the 100m finish at Commonwealth Games. Once she's in even better shape and refines how she wants to handle Moraa going out ludicrously fast, she'll be able to close faster at the end.

The answer is obvious...she will go home devastated!

You are not very bright. Keely is like 5’8 and 143 according to what I understand. John Walker was reportedly 6 feet and 163 and the first man to break 3:50 in the mile. Neither is/was too big for the 1500. Please educate yourself.

not too big. but also i believe she trains more as a sprinter type 800 runner. Also I don't think losing one big race is grounds for a complete shift in discipline.

Are you sure she weighs that much? I appreciate she's got some junk in that trunk etc etc, but I'd be amazed if she was much (if any) more than 130lbs.

You might be correct. I am not sure what she weighs as I was going off something I read but I cannot confirm. My point was that she is not too big for the 1500m but of course that is not the same as saying she should contest it. I have no opinion on that and she looks very healthy and fit so the weight discussion is not really germane to my point. She does quite well at 800m of course.

Actually I see her listed elsewhere as 5’9 and 126 which would corroborate your observations. Surely not too big for the 1500m. But really at age 20 she should probably focus on the 800m and maybe dabble in other distances if she is so inclined.

She needs to lose the butt. Her hips are too wide and it just doesn’t look fluid when she runs

She is underdeveloped in her upper body strength and sprint mechanics. Finishes like a 5000 runner. (To be fair Jakob has the same issue in the 1500)

Keely is a beautiful woman with a beautiful running style, and an Olympic/Commonwealth silver medalist. My guess is Lolp is someone who has achieved little if anything noteworthy.
