On the Monaco reaction show we discussed that she probably could break the WR at altitude with a legal wind.
Does anyone have a legit track they recommend for this?
Flojos WR was wind aided or had faulty timing. There doesn’t appear to be much debate about that.
I agree also with the dude who says at this age, having never broken 10.6 it would seem a stretch despite her being the greatest ever (possibly male or female).
The only place I can think of, that also has a history of 100m world records, would be Rieti (which is at approx 1300ft altitude) and it would have to have a really favorable wind happening (basically +1.8-2.0). Then on a great day, she would crack 10.6 but 10.5? I just don't think so.
On this general topic, isn't the evolution of womens sprinting kind of weird in the last decade with respect to SAFP and ETH. Fraser-Pryce undoubtedly the best in the world 2008-2015 but then Thompson-Herah appeared to take this on (and kind of naturally given she is 5 years younger) with back to back Olympic wins and a 10.51 clocking, only to seemingly give it back this season (SAFP looks considerably better this season and ETH isn't hurt). Little bit bizarre. Does Thompson-Herah only care about Olympic years (she might) - either way it's all very interesting.
Would have been great to have seen ETH in La Chaux de Fonds last season, but don’t underestimate the Eugene track surface.
Definitely this. That track has hosted so many electrifying times that are massive outliers in the athletes career records. If they hosted a bigger meet and attracted all the stars every record up to 400 hurdles would be under threat.

If she is on board and this site hosts a fundraiser to do the research and make it happen (secure the location, bring in the required officials to make it legal, bring any additional racers that might be required, set up timing etc), I would contribute $1000 to that fund.
FWIW I also sponsored one of the Cade Flatt record attempts. I think the sport needs more of this.
I thought all the Cade Flatt record attempts were at official meets that were already scheduled. Which attempt did you support? Not saying you didn't just that I didn't realize people were supporting his attempts which I think is cool.

AS for La Chaux de Fonds, do we think their timing system might be off? Or is altitude a bigger factor than we think? That track is at 1000m and the altitude calculator says that is only worth .03 for 100m
Altitude? Thats as legit as kipchoges carnival show marathon.
Flojo's record shouldn't be on the books so we might as well beat it with altitude and wind.
Why not sell a 10.49 GOAT t-shirt?
The 1:59 makes a mockery of our sport. Flo-jos 10.49 passed the IAAF ratification procedure. That makes it legit. 1:59 is a joke. Whats so hard about acknowledging the real marathon record?

Not quantifiable but expectations of conditions being conducive to great performance would put an athlete in a great state of mind to perform optimally and also to aim a mini peak of form to that event as a result. I think that middle distance events times in Monaco benefit from this feature as well.

I was in LCDF a week ago. Decent track, feels good, weather was amazing—hot and breezy. I will try to run there next year to put up an age-group mark. Should have done it this year, I am in shape. Dammit.
Good place to try for a good time. Sestriere has seen better days, was there not long ago, it’s a shadow of its former self imo.
USA needs a high-altitude sprint circuit! Colorado Springs, Albucrackie, etc. LRC make it happen!😂
Still...I know SAFP has put up 10.6’s everywhere, but I would like to feel that Eugene surface in the heat... Kerley back-to-back 9.7’s, Lyles, etc. Fast.
