You didn't even look at her times correctly. She ran 52.64 in the 400 and 4:41 in the 1600.
It's worth mentioning the Mu raced SIGNIFICANTLY MORE than Willis did in high school. Mu wasn't untrained, she was just trained as a sprinter. But what we saw this year was Mu has struggled to maintain that sprint speed as she increased her endurance training.
Meanwhile Willis even has a 17:46 cross country 5k to go with her 52 second 400. Her training was more balanced (and not overdone) and I think indicates a more linear career progression.

If I'm not mistaken, Willis is also the last person to beat Mu in an 800.
And, remarkably, her 400 and 1600 times were both better as a junior in 2021, 52.64 and 4:41.46. Good enough in fact that you wonder whether she could come close to that new national hs record in the mile right now. It'll be interesting to see how she's coached in college as to whether she is running 51 or low 4. In this race, she ran splits of roughly 27.3/32/30/29. I can imagine her running 1:58, maybe 1:57, in a paced race with more even splits more like 29/29/30/30.

Not that it really matters, but the last time Athing Mu was beat in the 800m was at the 2020 USATF Indoor Championships, where she fell apart and ran 2:14.18 in the heats. She was beat by Ajee Wilson, Shea Collinsworth, and Brianna Stratz. If you’re only talking about outdoors, then it was in 2019 at The Match Europe vs. US, where she came in 7th place.
She will finish her career with a faster PB than Mu. Willis got cut off really bad in that race w/ 200m left and had done all of the work pacing (also tired from rounds). In the right race with a rabbit, she's in 1:57 shape right now.
The Stanford-bound duo of Roisin Willis and Juliette Whittaker went 1-3 in the women's 800m at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia. Willi...

I believe that's her 1st sub2, plus she will attend Stanford, let's not jump the shark here.
I think you mean: "let's not jump the gun" (meaning get ahead of ourselves) not "let's not jump the shark" (meaning when things go from good to bad) :)

Wow!
I am amazed at how much you know about a Athing's training.
