Only way I’m enjoying steeplechase is if they send about 50 athletes into the even and have swinging bags of sand throughout the course then I’m bought in
oddball distances like 500, 1000, 2k steeple, 1200 (outside of dmr).
As opposed to hammer, discus, HJ, PV, sprint hurdles etc?
IDK man. I imagine I wouldn't care for a double hammer throw or quadruple discus either. I'll watch all the events but I'm mainly excited about distance.
Hurdles have always been interesting because of the rivalries in the 110. I wasn't much interested in the 400h, until Warholm broke the wr before the last olympics.
Agreed. I was a distance runner in school and also as an adult. That doesn't mean I'm interested in track and field as such, just in the distance events. As an outsider the other events don't seem interesting at all.
Wait a minute? People are allowed to not like an event? it feels like I’m the only person that has preferences about things. Anyone around me acts like every event is the greatest event ever and never disparages anything. Everyone is the greatest and every event is perfect!
I like all events except anything over 1500m. Who the hell wants to watch people run 13-26 laps? It's only exciting for the final lap or two.
I understand that many long races are often boring. But watching Bob Kennedy break Adam Goucher with surges, watching the Ethiopians wind up and push the pace to break the Kenyans were magical.
