Did they change it to where you have to have your line up M,F,M,F? In the past it seemed M,F,F,M was most successful… wonder if this is a change for Felix to anchor her final race..?
Also USA running the 4-5’s instead of the 6-8’s in the prelim means they’re likely stacking the final to ensure Felix gets the gold. Should be a great race and a big shot to break the WR.
I think they wanted to standardize the relay order after what happened at previous competitions, where a team would stake their female anchor to a large lead and she wouldn't finish there since other teams anchored with their fastest men.
Do you know FOR SURE that they are making everyone run the same male female order? Or are you guessing?
Have been looking forward to this :). Can't believe it's come around already. Stadium looks beautiful. Going to be some great races. Good luck to everyone in the prediction contest!!
Anyone know if USA is for sure through to the final or can they still get DQd? Kennedy Simon stepped out of her lane on the exchange with Godwin... 3 or 4 strides in the lane next to her.

Saw they ran that way during the Olympics, but upon further research...
While teams can choose any order they want for the relay, all teams in Tokyo opted for the conventional order of man-woman-woman-man.
That's from the World Athletics recap of the event.
Surprised they all chose man-woman-man-woman this time, if it wasn't mandated.
I think it should be done by random draw at the starting line. If you want to make it more interesting then it is right now, that would make it more fun.
So who will start alongside Allyson Felix in mixed relay final? In Tokyo USA changed whole 4 from heats, so what do we have any info regarding who will run?
lmao are the race walkers just staying and looping around this road the whole tome
I think it’s a 2 km loop which makes it easier for the judges to control and check the form of the walkers which enables them to give more warnings and disqualifications. Monge, Guatemala, 2 mins penalty, and Maria Perez, Spain, also gets a time penalty. Perez was one of the favorites. By the way, when you hear the Chinese spectators/ officials shouting “jaiyo” it means “let’s go, come on” in Mandarin.
Racewalking is a wonderful event but in my opinion there are too many subjective evaluations from the judges which mean that some people get unfairly penalized while others get a pass. These girls walking at seven minute mile pace for 20 km is very impressive and later on you will see the guys walking at six minute mile pace or even under (at times) during the 20 km event. Spectacular!
