I don't know all the details, but if it's true he was sent off and trafficked like that, he made the best out of a very tough situation. While it's possible his parents sent him away with the intention for him "to have a better life," that's still a very tough thing to have to go through, being away from all of your family for your entire upbringing.

What if you had to do all of that for another family, as a small child, in a country where you didn't speak the language, weren't allowed to go to school and were essentially neglected, and then removed from the situation by social services? Brought to a different country by someone you didn't know? There is a high barrier for removal BTW.

The article is not clear about all the details. He wasn’t living with his parents and travelled to Britain with a person whom he didn’t know and to whom he wasn’t related. Told he was to be living with relatives in Britain, he was actually forced into servitude, denied proper care and schooling, all at the age of nine or ten. It doesn’t matter that he knows his parents and his family—he was in fact stolen and forced into slavery. There are most likely many, many children who different the same fate with much worse outcomes. But go ahead and dismiss their stories, since you are apparently some expert.
