my wife did this, but it was with her dad, who was also her ex-husband, her sister-daughter was the maid of honor and im now her brother-son-husband. it's working out really well. you'll love it 2
My wife tried pretty hard to maintain a close relationship to her exes until i taught her how inappropriate that was. Sometimes you really do need to be a man and put your woman in her place.
I’m getting married in August. My fiancé was married before when she was young to a slightly older guy and got divorced about 2 years later. Her family is Latvian and she says it’s common for the ex-husband to “give away” his ex-wife to the new husband if her father isn’t able to do so (fiancé’s father is deceased). I’ve scoured the Internet to see if this is true…I can’t find anything, but I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to Latvian. Anyway, it just seems weird to me. They’re on good terms with each other, but don’t see each other pretty much ever.
Should I object to this or is it no big deal? Giving away a child at a wedding is old fashioned enough. Giving away an ex-wife just seems so wrong.
He is going to walk her down the aisle then a year from now they are going to have special tickle time together. Then a year after that you are not even invited to there wedding!

Tell her family it’s American custom to castrate the ex-husband, to “give away” his dingdong to the cats, before he can give away the ex.
Tell her it is american tradition to sleep with the maid of honour the night before the wedding, and have the maid of honour walk you down the isle to give you away to the bride.
Tell your fiance that the idea of her ex giving her away affects you. You would prefer that her father or another family member do it instead. If she insists knowing it affects you, well, now you know how much she cares.
