We know Puma sponsored Bolt and other sprinters. Puma also tries to sell shoes to distance runners for stretches of time, doesn't have many locations where one can see and buy their shoes, and then disappears as far as distance runners are concerned.
He didn't say distance running, he said "running." Puma didn't, doesn't and won't disappear from running - pretty simple. If he meant something different, he should/could have used different words.
How many threads do you see here about sprinting? We mostly talk about distance running. When we talk about a kind of equipment we might use it's equipment for distance running. When we talk about a brand disappearing we usually mean from the sport of distance running and don't feel the need to specify because nearly everyone understands that here "running" means distance running unless otherwise specified except for very small number of posters who seem to feel the need to try to look more clever than everyone else. Again, we all knew what brand Bolt was running in. You did not add any new information by mentioning it.
What is a shame is that Reebok running shoes don't sell better. Their floatride branded models over the past few years has been nothing short of top notch. And at great prices. $100 for top notch daily trainers as a start.
They suffer from looking like budget brand shoes. A little more effort in the design would help. Over here in the UK, Reebok is associated with old men and fat guys getting drunk in the middle of the day
Aside from the midsoles, the shoes themselves feel like bargain bin trainers in general. The upper materials especially feel very cheap. Floatride in its various forms is nice, there was a small window where it was something special, but now that every brand on the market has brought their own super foam out, it doesn't stand out anymore. Even the prices don't set them apart when you can just get other shoes on sale.
The only Reebok shoe I would possibly consider is a Nano if I wanted something specifically for the gym, but if I'm choosing a running shoe, there are so many good shoes out there that there's no reason to settle for what Reebok cobbles together.
(Also, Reebok definitely has that dad-shoe vibe in the US as well.)

But, running doesn't just mean distance running, it means running. I speak English, the site is called "Let's Run" and covers all types of running. When someone says that Puma disappears from running, being that I speak English, I assume they mean running. Words have meaning and people cannot read your mind. Bubble Boy is exactly what you are if you are so narrow in your thought process that you believe everyone else thinks as you do. Learn to use the appropriate words.
Similar to what happened last time Reebok was sold - they will honor the existing endorsement deals but one they expire there will not be a renewal. And the athletes are free to find a new endorsement deal during this time. Good group of runners down in Virginia and I hope they all find new sponsors.
I know how to use appropriate words. I've taught writing, written professionally and in graduate classes. There are times when context makes meaning very clear and this is true here when someone talks about running shoes. Being willfully obtuse and pedantic as a pretense to insult someone is obnoxious.
