Millennials who haven't seen a movie that predates 1994... Why??

They're missing out as some of the best films are from before 1994, like Alien, Apocalypse Now, E.T., The Silence of the Lambs, Schindler's List, Miracle Mile, Airplane!, Dead Calm, Flashdance, Jaws etc

But I guess maybe it's harder to relate to them like another poster says. I know people who don't like black and white films for example. And obviously things are different in some of the films, but that only relates to technology e.g. no mobile phones, landlines instead. In Miracle Mile I remember he uses a payphone to call the woman he's just met and he leaves a voicemail. However, a mobile phone features in this film and it's from 1988!

If you've never watched the 1932 movie "Freaks" you haven't fully experienced the humanity and influence of film.

I was using all those things well into my teenage years, and computers were around, in the late 80s I would use my grandparents’ machines (I recall using WordStar and printing stuff on their dot matrix printer). My first two cars had cassette decks (both 90s models), my first car with a CD player was a 2002 model and that was a fairly new thing then. I’ve used a pay phone as recently as my mid-late 20s and many companies still have land lines for employees even though they’re not ubiquitous in homes anymore. Even younger millennials should recall what all these things are.

To echo another poster, I am not sure you know what a millennial is (unless you're a troll). And if you do, these individuals are likely anecdotal. I was born in 1987, which is coincidentally when one of my favorite action/sci-fi movies came out. Hint: it starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Growing up in the 1990's, all we watched were 80's action movies and early 1990's flicks....because um, you know, it was, like 1997 and what else were we going to watch? Yes we saw some movies from the 1970's. Just not as good to us. We were kids. I have a 22-year-old co-worker who said he doesn't watch movies from that era because "they're old." Too bad for you. See, it's not so much a generational things ("Oh those stupid millennials/Gen z"), it's a youth thing.

Just spewing more nonsense and hate on anyone younger than yourself. I'm 34 and not into social media but it doesn't bother me if a teenager is spending four hours a day on tiktok. You do you, bucko.

I prefer the "talkies" to those old silent B&W films.

I didn't know the difference between Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks until a few weeks ago. People were talking about the new Top Gun movie and I said "Tom Cruise. He played Forrest Gump, right ?" They laughed at me.
