Jacobs isn't a flash in the pan. He ran a great indoor campaign and looked primed to have a great outdoor campaign until he got hospitalized with food poisoning, along with his coach, in Kenya. He's going to have to build back slowly before he shows what he was ready to do.
This will be his chance to prove. Running the 60 isn't really indicative of running the 100. You can be great at both, and he may be. But no one had ever heard of him until the finals of the Olympics. So when he bows out of his first big test of the season, it simply looks like he is afraid. Similar to Shacarri, except he obviously isn't a total nutcase. I hope he is legit, since in my lifetime, Europe hasn't had a title-competing 100m runner, so I think it's fun!

The Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy is reporting that Jacobs suffered an injury in his 100m season opener last week in Savona and will be forced to miss this weekend's Pre Classic, where he was supposed to face Fred Kerley, Christian Coleman, Andre De Grasse, Erriyon Knighton, and others.
This is starting to remind me of gatlin when he ducked asafa two meets in a row. if jacobs is a nike guy expect him to get popped for trying to duck.
this whole “gotta protect my brand” is dumb. If you dont race your not helping your “brand”, and if you are a nike slave and dont help out their brand there are consequences.
