Maura Healey is running for Governor. Expect the Red Sox owners and their friends to throw buckets full of money into her campaign. That's all this is.
As for Fenway Park, it outlived its usefulness as an athletic and entertainment venue long ago. There is no way that place can be brought up to a level of 21st Century comfort. Avoid Fenway Park.
Would that be a bucket full of cash, or would they be throwing plastic?
It’s crazy that there are laws that private business have to accept payment in certain ways. No a role the government should be taking in people’s lives.
"No retail establishment offering goods and services for sale shall discriminate against a cash buyer by requiring the use of credit by a buyer in order to purchase such goods and services," the law reads. "All such retail establishments must accept legal tender when offered as payment by the buyer."
Our sleazy AG and Governor in waiting said this.
On Tuesday Healey said that her office has had talks with the team about the new policy, and that it is in accordance with the law, noting that there was no need for a formal investigation. “The law says that people need to be able to go in and make purchases using legal tender. Traditionally that was known as cash, but as long as there are systems that are in place that allow for the use of cash, essentially through these cards that’s gonna, we think, work out.

1. Can you get these cash cards without divulging personal data?
2. If 1. is yes, don't you think that this part of the system will disappear soon enuff?
I suspect you go to the machine, put in your cash and get a card. Where do you think personal data is coming from?
Consolidating power. Rejecting cash gives tremendous power to a small minority of decision makers. Large corporations can just turn off your ability to buy goods and services. Little by little the power and control is taken.

Seems rather clear
CNN admits that Alvin Bragg, the new Manhattan District Attorney, will not prosecute many crimes:
Among the crimes Bragg said his office would not prosecute: marijuana misdemeanors, including selling more than three ounces; not paying public transportation fare; trespassing except a fourth degree stalking charge, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in certain cases, and prostitution.
Not prosecute resisting arrest? Ridiculous! Nothing like making arrests more dangerous.
Not prosecute fare-beating? Ridiculous! Why should anyone pay for subways or buses then?
Not prosecute marijuana sales exceeding three ounces? Marijuana stinks.
Not prosecute prostitution? That makes life much easier for sex traffickers.
Just days after taking office, Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg released a memo detailing new charging, bail, plea and sentencing policies that he said he believes will make the city safer and the criminal justice syst...

This guy gets it
I sympathize with anyone who wants to pay in cash, prepaid card, or these new dog coins
Did you read the article? From what I read, you go to a machine, but in your cash and then get a prepaid card. You take that card to buy stuff.
This is not a lot different than fairs or carnivals where you buy tickets and take those tickets for rides or other stuff.
The cards do not have any personal data on them.
What happens to the 'spare change' on the card? Where can I convert it back to cash? Let's say I only go to one or two games a year?
I was at an establishment that also did not accept cash and was very annoyed. What if I didn't have plastic with me? I thought it was a nationwide law that cash must be accepted.

I assume they're just plain pre-paid debit cards that you can use anywhere. Or are they special cards that only work at Fenway?

There’s absolutely no law cash has to be acceptable. That would be insane government overreach. If I want to set up a business that will only accept payment in live farm animals I can do that.

I'm confused, it sounds like you think there *shouldn't* be a law mandating acceptance of cash (perfectly reasonable) but you can't deny that such laws do exist.

They are only local or state laws and they are bad. There is will never be a federal law requiring a private business to accept payment a certain way.
