Are you talking about only certain races or just college runners?
Damn it, I really am a dumbassMF, I was thinking of Michael Johnson.
Haha

I wonder if the coaching change is what has really helped him work towards his potential. I was not expecting a time like that into a negative wind. I’m glad he switched from the 400 to the 200 today, probably easier to push yourself there with no competition
ABSOLUTELY the right move, and it paid off.
I totally respect this decision, whether made by him, his coach, or both. Just as much as things went sub-optimally for him in his former situation, things seem to be going very well for him in his new situation.
Hats off. Unfortunately for him, given the current depth, the 200 is his running event.
Once he leaves Georgia, he will turns his energies to the 200m he has talkd about being his fav event and he is tailor made for it.
And.....most white sprinters are more successful in the 200m

All-time list:
Sub-10, Sub-20, 27'+ : Matt Boling
Sub-10, Sub-20, 29'+ : Carl Lewis
Lewis is a multi gold medalist. Boling will never make an Olympic team.
Haha, well I guess we’ll just have to see over the next few years how it all shakes out, but I think having a great spring this far.
So which performance is better this year? Kerley's 19.80 with a plus 1. Whatever tailwind, or Boling into a .9 headwind?

Christophe Lemaitre had a 9:92 and 19:80 PB at the same age.
I'm talking of Lemaitre because I've seen multiple times Boling being compared to Lemaitre.
Hopefully, Boling doesn't stagnate from now on. But yea he is not at his level yet.
There is something to be said for gradual improvements perhaps.
Michael Johnson 2 months shy of 23 ran a 19.85. First season sub 20. 5 years later he was at 19.79, just a month shy of 28.
The following year 19.32
He was like 32 when he set 400 record.
I could see Boling going 9.92 even this year and 19.82. Although why rush it? Maybe he takes another 5-6 years to set his PRs
Also shoutout to the guy in second, just a freshman

Here’s a video where you can kind of see the end of the run (bad angle)
still looks pretty ragged near the end but got it done
Wind is a strange correction in the 2, due to the bend and the distance traveled.
I wouldn’t read too much into it. I would take Kerley by a foot or two.
Kerley, Norman, Boling all essentially 19.8x...IN MID/LATE APRIL😮.
Yeah I saw that too.
Great description: ragged. At least he didn’t injure himself, as far as we know.
Are we looking at a 19.85 cat in the NCAA?
The US gets 4 in the 200 but really deserves 6 guys. The depth is crazy and a 19.8 guy or two will likely be left home from this group (Lyles is in): Bednarek, Knighton, Kerley, Laird, Boling. Latter two are the underdogs for sure.

Is he now the NCAA D1 (Azamati is D2) favorite in the 100 and 200?
Norman?
lol there are so many guys that it’s easy to forget who’s in there.
Looks like that dbag Coleman went 19.92 yesterday, at Kentucky—but he needed a +0.5 wind to do it.
Would be great to see another guy beat Coleman, in any event he runs.👍
lol there’s another guy you left off the list of 200 possibles. Also maybe Benjamin, maybe.
