Pittsburgh is not a flat city. If anything like the marathon course, the half marathon will be hilly and far from a lightning fast course. Take that into account when predicting times.......oh and I'll buy the first Yuengling if you change your user name next post.

I really am rooting for her to return to form. She was really one of the first to smash a marathon igniting this theme of depth for American women at the marathon.
I’d say her last good race was Boston 2019. She showed the ability to return to form after a year of injury. But since the hamstring tear at Chicago she’s been bad. 2:37 at the trials, 2:33 at Valencia then the awful 2:40 at Boston. Mix in a bunch of bad half’s in between. Valencia made me think she was trending right but that wasn’t true.
It seems like she and Pete Julian decided she needed a break from the marathon, and hopefully targeted getting her speed back. It’s just more exciting for the American storylines to have her back and competitive. I am really rooting for her to break 72 and hopefully run something sun 2:30 this fall. She doesn’t need an A performance but rather just a result showing she’s making progress.
Jordan has always been such a tricky athlete for me, and really hard to root for at times. I'm not sure what she's like as a person but she actively chosen to associate with people who are bad for the sport. Kara tells the story about how she was hoping to warn Jordan about Salazar in 2013. They made arrangements to meet, but on the day of Jordan texted canceling the appointment and it was announced that she would run for NOP and Salazar that very day.
Jordan either strikes me as extremely malleable or kind of a snake. She hides behind others, mostly Salazar, allowing them to do the dirty work for her. She knew in 2014 that Gabe didn't foul her but kept her mouth tight shut while Alberto manipulated the system, DQ'ing Gabe so she could run. It was only when it appeared that the entire track and field world turned against her that she finally withdrew her "protest". People forgave her for that because it appeared she had done the right thing, but it was HER coach and HER protest that caused such a horror show in the first place.
She also said or did very little to help out Mary. When Mary came out with her story, she said nothing publicly or privately to support her. I also suspect that she was the one that Crouse called to confirm that the abuse actually happened (it did) and she lied and told her that it didn't.
She defended Alberto as a "father figure" when he was banned for DOPING violations. She is bizarrely still sponsored even though she hasn't had a good performance in years.
On the other hand, I am worried about her. Because it very well could be that she is extremely malleable and has been abused herself too. I really believe that Galen and his family were groomed and manipulated by Alberto who permeated his family and started taking Galen on as a "son" without them realizing it. Making medical decisions for a teenager should be off limits to anyone but parents--but Alberto was sending Galen to Nike doctors and putting him on " testosterone medications". A confirmation sponsor should be a family member or close family friend, but there was Alberto too. It could be that Jordan has been heavily manipulated since college and that her performances have dwindled because she is suffering from the lasting effects of his "training". When you hear what Mary described--and what Mary ultimately was able to break away from--it's possible that Jordan couldn't, and we see the effects of that right here and now.
Keep in mind that just because an athlete says they weren't abused, doesn't mean that they weren't abused.

How connected are you? Interesting info if true. I respect and like Jordan. But the Crouse part is interesting re: Mary Cain. I'd not be surprised if Crouse reads/has heard of Letsrun. Not every runner I've talked to has, actually.
IMO she will run but not at her best. I believe she benefits from having a mentor to encourage her and run her best. It seems she's only missing the mental drive to finish the difficult part of a marathon. The last 10k. I believe she thrives on impressing her mentor. And at this moment she hasn't invested those feelings in anyone. Hopefully I'm wrong and she's found that mental edge. She's physically capable. My guess is she'll finish 70 ish.
Prediction: She does OK and writes a long, seemingly motivational Instragram post, talking about her tough journey, tagging 11 of her BS nutritional sponsors.
or 1:10 -- the west end bridge is a pain but the elevation going up the birmingham bridge back into downtown will really hurt her time.
Some people on here have no idea of the course. The Birmingham Bridge at mile ~10 is tough - it's not a flat or fast course. (I've never really been bothered with the West End Bridge .. it's earlier and not as big an incline.)
It was the USATF Half-Marathon championships in 2018 and 2019.
- 2018 - Aliphine Tuliamuk beat Sarah Hall in 1:10:04
- 2019 - Stefanie Bruce beat Sarah Hall and Emma Bates in 1:10:44
At best, I have Hasay at a ~1:11 high or 1:12. I don't think she's in the same shape as a 2018-2019 Sarah Hall .. who is pretty consistently fit. That would be a decent result for her, frankly.
A 1:14 and getting dropped going up the Birmingham Bridge is entirely reasonable. IIRC that was Lindsay Flanagan in 2018. Nell Rojas ran ~1:14 in 2019.

How do you know Jordan knew Gabe didn't foul her. There was obviously contact from behind. I'm no one to dispute your wisdom, but shortly after the race on podcast Gabe clearly said that she herself considered Jordan a good sport. Maybe Jordan withdrew her protest while believing she had been fouled, but still not wanting to advance due to such situation. Maybe she originally believed herself to have been fouled, then got a chance to watch the video and found the situation more complicated. Maybe people who don't bother to pay much attention are always turning people into pawns in conflicts they are pre-invested in without paying much attention. How many of the people who had emotional reactions to the race actually had a chance to watch slow motion footage of what happened on the day of the race. Obviously a lot of what people felt on the race day was an emotional reaction based primarily on personal bias. It took a few days for the footage to leak out and the "evidence" a person in the race would have felt in the confusion of impact would have been different that the "evidence" a person felt sick of nike's bullying, but not yet having seen the video. I'm sure that race was a little more confusing than you'd like to pretend. But leaving the race to the last lap played more into Gabe's strengths than Jordan's. And any evidence, especially of a photographic nature, used to make a dq ought to be publicly available instantly, and not hidden in the process.
Hoping for a good one from Jordan, and will say 1:10:50, in something of a return to form for her. Hope there is no underlying injury. I think she is better suited to the marathon rather than the half. Perhaps a bit on the tall side for a female marathoner (most of the Africans are awfully short), but otherwise a perfect marathoner’s body. She needs a “reset” and I gather her coach figures it is best for her to go 13.1 rather than 26.2.

Yup, +1 here. I am really rooting for her - she's a super sweet person (met her a few times) and has a ton of talent. Curious as to what is going on with the Union Athletic Club? Is that Pete Julian's group?

What was your height, weight, basic daily caloric input, and basic daily grams of fat input? How much of that time was spent with erectile dysfunction? If we define "dysfunction" as general disability, and or disinterest, to raise about half mast most days of the week? What types of fats did you prefer to eat? Congratulations if you walked that tight rope and kept your health. Did you at any time have a stress fracture? and did you increase weight while healing? and how long did it take to heal? Did you supplement vitamin d and calcium?
