MLJ certainly has a combination of power, turnover, stability, height + stride length, and improved 60m speed clearly compared to his past. His top end mechanics are sustainable in a way that Coleman has not demonstrated convincingly - i.e, if you watch the WIC 60m dash, Jacobs has a perfect lean for the line, but right before he positions himself for the lean he is still upright and accelerating as if he was going to burn up the track for another 40m, torso completely still (lateral motion at the end of a 60m dash is a hard instinct to suppress and it is clear he is approaching the year from the perspective of maximizing every sequence of his race plan for the 100m). He is probably a candidate to run 9.6 when things come together for him.

However, I don't like his rapid improvement from 10.03 to 9.80 in a single year. Strikes me as unusually unusual. With his 60m win and some info on the comprehensive and scientific nature of his training routines, I am less skeptical and think that he might have taken advantage of the pandemic era to make use of his stature, power output, and core strength to develop a remarkable top end speed. He might never be able to get to 60m in WR fashion, but he seems to me to be a biomechanical combination of Bolt and Yohan Blake, with less lateral motion in his arm carriage than both while perhaps lacking the flare of their respective sprinting behaviors.

Agree. Sports are entertainment at the end of the day.

i also don’t like the fact that most people talk about PED like if they took them then they too, would be an elite sprinter(or distance runner) all of a sudden. Ya wouldn’t.

all I’m looking for is a good competitive race. Maybe a crazy time. Maybe something to talk about or look forward to for the next race. Not concerned what you do in training or to help your recovery. Just put on a good show when it’s time to shine.
