You need to assert yourself more. If you live in northeast US or California, laws tend to be pro tenant.
many cities, states, law schools have tenant rights clinics or resources for tenants. Check one out near you.
you could always talk to the guy in a reasonable tone during the day. Say it seems like he doesn’t like having you there. Give you back your security deposit and You will vacate in 30 days. And say that what he has been doing violates the law.
If he turns off the electricity, you have a right to withhold a portion of the rent. Grab an hour or two with a landlord tenant lawyer - it will be beneficial. Can't emphasize this enough.
Look man I study landlord tenant law and work in a firm part time till I pass the bar, this is some crap but you are better off getting some free legal help from a legal aid society. You have the right to covenant of quiet enjoyment and so does he. But yours is being violated. You also have the right to use everything in the lease within reason. If he is making crap arguments just do some research or email me @louiswolfman@gmail.com and make the subject letsrun landlord tenant help
Is there a lease? If so and you’re stuck I’d tell the guy ‘no offense but I’m an adult and paying you rent…I’ll decide when I watch tv, sleep, chip, fukc and everything else within my rights.’ If not I’d just bolt….otherwise I’d probably need to beat the cracker’s arse sooner or later.
I can't afford to move and he turns off the electricity to my apartment at night if l have a someone over without asking. He also told me no one can visiting me can stay past 6P.M and they must have a criminal background check done before they are approved to enter my apartment.
I was in desperate need of a place, so l signed a lease to a one bedroom apartment, with a kitchen, and living room, and a bunch of other cool stuff. It also has a nice pool. I basically live in this guy's pool house. He is always knocking on my door asking me not to leave the TV on at night if l am not watching it and sleeping, and saying his pool is closed for maintenence every time l want to swim, and telling me who l can have over, and what time they need to leave. Yes, he does this stuff. He actually calls me on my cell phone asking me not to stay out to late because he goes to bed early and doesn't want to be woken up. There is a separate entrance to the apartment from the main house, but he says the noise wakes him up. Things are getting down right creepy, but l can't leave because it cost to much. What should l do? He actually knocked on my door last night and told me it's midnight and l should be calling it a night, and l was watching TV by myself.
Look at it this way. If he kicks you out for being a man and standing up to him, he is much less likely to do this to the next person. If he decides to kick you out, just tell him you are going to tell everyone not to rent from you.
If the stuff he’s verbally telling you isn’t in the lease, then he’s likely breaching his contract. For instance, if it doesn’t explicitly say you can’t have people over without a background check. Or explicitly say a curfew. Or explicitly say I can turn the electricity off at night to your place, then he’s in the wrong and you can leave anytime because the contract has already been breached. Now, obviously I doubt any of that stuff is in the lease, or you were silly to sign it. If it is in the lease and you still signed it, then well, lesson learned to read the contract next time. You not being able to afford another place is a different discussion. There isn’t a whole lot you can do. It’s his property. He’s obviously in the wrong, but there’s not much recourse here other than move out.
beneficial to who? Any seasoned lawyer should be able to spot a phony story easily. Of course, as a 35 year practicing lawyer I am sure you know better.

"He also told me no one can visiting me can stay past 6P.M" = Legal
"they must have a criminal background check done before they are approved to enter my apartment" = Legal
"he turns off the electricity to my apartment" = Not legal

If you have a rental lease and nothing he is knocking on your door to complain about is written in the lease you signed then take him to court which is your legal right for harassment. Next time he knocks on your door tell him I signed a lease I did not sign on to be your child or have any contact with I am an adult don't bother me again or I will call the police on you for harassment. If he tries to say anything just say I don't want to hear it go away and point in the direction away from your front door.
This sounds like a situation I was in a few years back before I got my crap together. My landlord was a nightmare. How I handled it. I just simply Dad I need you to understand that I am an adult and I won't do my chores if continue to harass me. He got the point and for Christmas I still got the Twin Sized Ferrari car bedi wanted.

You're not really explaining how it would benefit the OP to tell a story he made up for LR to an attorney.
