As for the OP, this is nothing new for the Russians. In WWII they built 85,000 T-34 tanks. 45,000 were torched by the Germans. Life is cheap on the Eurasian steppe, always has been.
Of course I do.
In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance is the perception of contradictory information. Relevant items of information include a person's actions, feelings, ideas, beliefs, values, and things in the environment. Cognitive dissonance is typically experienced as psychological stress when persons participate in an action that goes against one or more of those things.[1] According to this theory, when two actions or ideas are not psychologically consistent with each other, people do all in their power to change them until they become consistent.
You know, like believing Russia is both destroying Ukraine while simultaneously getting defeated big time.
Like you believe as directed by the state propaganda
Many have tried to make arguments that depict the Russians as rational actors who have been pushed into war by the US and NATO. What is rapidly emerging is the fact that the Russians are completely dysfunctional and consumed by a neo-Soviet/KGB system of leadership that is driven by a nationalist ideology based on 17th century Russian history and a view of the Russian Orthodox Church as being the one and only religion.
The issue of Russian tanks is case and point. Russia has been down this road before. In Chechnya, Russian tank columns were wiped out by Chechen separatists when they tried to push into urban areas like Grozny. The Chechen separatist would blow up the tank at the front and the rear of the column so that all the other tanks would be stuck between buildings and could not maneuver there way to safety. The Chechen separatists would then pick off the tanks one by one in a virtual shooting gallery (but much easier).
Much of Russia's military command have experience in Chechnya. They know that tanks are vulnerable to anti-tank weapons and are particularly ill suited to urban warfare, especially when they are traveling in large columns. But the Russian military sent them anyway, knowing full well that Ukraine had very good anti-tank weapons and would be able to pick off lots of tanks. This is Stalin level BS. In any other modern military, such a move would lead to a court marshal. But in Russia, they have completely lost it from top down. There have also been reports of Russian conscripts being equipped with WWII era rifles and being told to run towards Ukraine forces to draw fire.
If I were in the military I would for sure want to be in special operations. Typically you are the hunter, not the hunted. You face risk, of course, but I would prefer to be playing offense vs. defense. Patrol in at night. Stealth. They don't even know you are there.

Just read an amusing article about how Ukrainian forces are using the "Find My Apple" app to target Russian forces. Evidently, Russians are stealing iPhones and MacBooks from civilians as trophies. Ukraine then uses the app to find heavy concentrations of "lost" Apple devices to guide long range artillery strikes on Russian troop concentrations. Brilliant!
Russia is destroying Ukraine and genociding the people.
But getting their incompetent butts kicked by Ukraine at the same time.
??
The media wants you to believe that Ukraine is hanging in there and putting up a good fight.
Most likely Russia is beginning to pull ahead and Ukraine is headed for an inevitable annexation. But if the media told you that, then people would be screaming even louder for NATO members to get involved.
Somehow this thread reminds me of the Sherman tank that Americans used in WWII. That one was such a death trap that they were nicknamed "Ronsons" (after the cigarette lighter that "lights every time").

You obviously have never heard of a little battle back in 1942, at a place then called Stalingrad . The Nazis simultaneously turned the city into rubble while incurring one of the biggest losses in military history. No cognitive dissonance for most who consider either situation, obviously it is only you who is suffering from said malady.
In fact, it is quite likely that Ukraine will go down as Putin's personal Stalingrad. He has certainly made it a Russian meat grinder.

Indeed. The Russian troops are their own worst enemies (along with Putin).

Think what your asking. Think very hard if you have the capability. You have answered your own questions. Unless your a but, but, but type then there is no hope for you.
This topic has been researched and thoroughly studied by military scientists. A member of a tank crew survives combat at a higher rate than infantrymen.
* If tank it buttoned up and sealed, no one in tank can be injured by small arms fire.
* Grenades, semiautomatic rifles, squad machine guns, machine guns and heavy machine guns are not likely to inflict death upon tank crew. Even AT-4 and R.P.G. are unlikely to penetrate tank armor. There are mechanized vehicles that news reporters and others label as tanks which may be penetrated with some of the weapons listed in this paragraph but they are not tanks. Also, tanks are likely to tolerate mortar fire.
Overall in relation to this conflict, Russia has more than twice the population of Ukraine. For example, if 750 Ukrainians die every week and 850 Russians die every week while fighting in Ukraine, Russia will win battle of attrition even though Ukrainians are armed with AT-4s, javelins and stingers.
I have stated for weeks, since N.A.T.O. and U.S. will not fight Russians in Ukraine, it is impossible for Ukraine to win even though Ukrainian military has killed many Russians. Ukraine needs to surrender or there will be more deaths. Only winners are weapon contractors in this conflict. Zelenskyy is a strategic idiot for not surrendering and making Ukrainians suffer. The fact that Ukrainians have killed many Russians is not evidence of Ukraine winning. Japan killed more U.S. personnel in Iwo Jima than U.S. killed Japanese personnel in Iwo Jima. Over ninety-nine percent of artillery rounds and bombs are falling on Ukrainian soil. It is mathematically impossible for Ukraine to win.

You guys with this "should surrender" and "strategic idiot for not surrendering" bit are just weird. If citizens of a country, or even parts of a country, do not want to surrender their lives to an invading force trying to kill them, occupy their country, and basically make them lead a way of life they don't want to, that is their personal decision. How do you even question such a decision?
Ukrainians know the odds are strongly against them. They are aware of what invading Russian armies do to innocent civilians. They appear to believe fighting the invading Russians murderers is worth it anyway. Can you blame them? Even if you would chose not to defend your own county, how do you logically or morally second guess someone who does?
And if Zelenskyy capitulates and tells Russia to come in and take over, why do you think all Ukranians will follow? It appears very likely that most of them won't do that. Ukrainians don't want to be occupied and ruled by Russians. They have made that very clear by now, whether Zelenskyy is around or not.

You recognize needing to copy & paste the exact, word-for-word wiki definition of cognitive dissonance shows you do not know the definition, right?

Thankfully the west has been supplying Ukraine with handheld anti-tank weapons by the 1000s. They just vaguely get the tank on screen, push a button from 2.5km away and boom no more tank. The west have been supplying the weapons and the Ukrainians supplying the bravery and goodbye Russian tank crews.
