she trashed all the people on thyroid meds and it turns out she was on it too. How is that not hypocritical?
She trashed them for merely being on thyroid meds? I’ve never seen such comments. Her criticism about Salazar and NOP were about much more than taking thyroid meds.
She trashed them for being associated with someone serving a ban. She said, "I’m not going to be the judge and jury of who is cheating but if you’re closely affiliated with somebody who is serving a four-year ban and someone points a finger at you and says ‘maybe you’re cheating,’ I don’t feel sorry for you.."
And Rojo has stated that he has a source that says she was a patient of Dr. Brown. The doctor banned for four years.
I don't think it is a stretch to find that hypocritical. And dodging the question didn't help, imo.
FWIW, I still root for her if and when she runs, but I wasn't a big fan of that back and forth. I just figure...it's fun to watch and not be all-consumed by doping.
If you show me some evidence that she worked with Brown after his being banned or while publicly under investigation then I’d agree. I haven’t seen as much and this don’t see the alleged hypocrisy.
Simpson did a Q&A with Women's running that came out today.. She's most definitely not retired. She's taken some time off from racing as her community deals with the after effects of the wildfire.
JS: Almost always for most of my life, my run has been the hardest part of my day—in a good way. It’s where I pour in the majority of my energy and definitely through the month of January 2022, my workout and training was the easiest and happiest part of my day.
WR: How has it impacted any plans to race?
JS: I’ve never taken a pause from racing in my life and I’ve taken a pause. Where I’m going to race next is just TBD for a while.

The point is that Simpson, like Coburn and Ritz and a host of NOPers and BTCers, flew far from where they live and train to Houston to get Dr. Brown's dodgy diagnosis because they knew that no legit doc closer to home would find much of anything wrong with their thyroid function and thus prescribe medication. There are strong odds that if you're going to such lengths to link up with a disgraced and defrocked doc - who was disgraced and defrocked precisely because of what he did for patients such as Simpson - all in the name of a single TUE then that's not where your efforts to sidestep doping protocols ended. I used to be a Simpson fan and was always glad to see her trounce Rowbury after the latter became a NOPer, but now I'm pretty indifferent to her endeavors much like fellow Buff alums Kara and Adam. She's brazen in her belief that the general track fandom isn't aware of her association with Dr. Brown and all that it implies.

Jenny is taking a break because of the fires but also because she is not a great runner anymore. She would not have taken the fire break 5 years ago. Let us not fail to speak the truth here.
She normally only runs 1 indoor meet, the NB grand prix, which this year was 5 weeks removed from getting displaced from her home. She'll be back later this year.
What would be the equivalent to running sub 4 every year for 20 years for women? Sub 4:05 1500m?
105 men in the world have broken 4 in the indoor/outdoor mile this year and it's March 1st. Only 50 women broke 4:05 all 2021 (and more people run the 1500 globally than run the mile).
Another way to look at it, 13 high school boys have broken 4 in US history while Mary Cain is the only high school girl to break 4:07, let alone 4:05. She's also the only female high schooler to break 4:32 for the mile.
Put another way, 4:05 is only a second slower than world/Olympic standard, so would be more equivalent to a 3:36-3:37 1500 which is way faster than a 4:00 mile.
I'd say the female equivalent to sub 4 mile is somewhere around 4:13-4:15 for the 1500.
I assumed she was stepping up to road or 10k? Would like to see her go Nick Willis and keep running 1500, but I think she wants to win. Its getting crazy crowded at the top on the track MD.
She should go out and hammer some joggers on the road. She isn;t scaring anyone internationally on the track anymore. I love her heart, but her time has past.
Head to the roads make some moolah
Stand on the podium. She'll be an inspiration for those who run with her

Indeed. She used the same corrupt doc like NOP and BTC, who finally got banned. But yes, that was not after his being banned.
She is also one of the many whose missed test wasn't counted because of USADA's courtesy calls, who then followed her 60 miles to the next city to test her. Lots of time to start making and diluting (ovehydrating).
