He was laughing it off with his coach after. Things happen.
And while I agree he didn’t look good, he was gonna hang on to the lead. Tech was trying to close with everything he had, but Yared, while grimacing, wasnt fading.
He was fading fast. He gave up 15 meters over last 250. ND last so there is no would have. Nuguse is smart in the classroom but seems like the kind of guy that coach has to remind of practice time and bus departure.
My insider sources say that Yared knew he was about to get passed, so he intentionally fell in order to try and trip the Vtech runner and hopefully give himself the chance to get back up and beat him. Oldest trick in the book.

You could hear the BONG of the rail throughout the facility.
I think he heard Antonio Lopez-Suguru catching him (He looked like crap, would have hung on for the win but did not look good). So I think he started to turn to his inside to look back (like he did with Coooper teare) and as he started to turn his body drifted to the inside and he hit the rail.
His lead was as big as 30-40 m at one point. Again, I think he would have won but was getting caught fast and did not look smooth.

He was running very tight to the rail his entire leg, so the look back and a little drift (inches) and he was on the rail.
I mean, if he still had a 4:00 split then he was still probably going to run 3:54-3:55 without the fall. So, not terrible for a relay by yourself.
