WTF do we care if he takes over Ukraine? Let him have it.
Excuse me but you are completely out of the loop. Ukraine is the largest country in Europe proper and is part of the West in terms of being democratic and wanting to be part of NATO. It stands as a buffer between the West and Russia which wants no part of it of anything close to freedom and democracy for its people. All Russia knows is to control and conquer. Ukraine is a free and independent European country with 45 million citizens that do not want war. Do not want to be killed, or displaced and have their cities burned down and be occupied by an evil empire. Perhaps if you had family and friends living this horror you would be more compassionate. Beyond this, Russia is poised to take over the Baltics, neighboring countries and basically start WW III. We are not talking about Afghanistan or some tiny country no one cares about here - the repurcussions are huge. And you would know that if you were listeing to the news.
The USA helped violently overthrow the elected (pro Russian) Ukraine Govt in 2014 and installed a puppet leader.
I know the MSM propaganda machine did not cover it truthfully, but come on. Everyone ought to know this.
Crimea immediately broke away from Ukraine and went with Russia.
It is America, not Russia, that has military all over the world and constantly engages in "regime change".

STFUP no one wants to live under a pro Moscow regime.
Even those benefitting the most are sending their kids to study in the USA and buying houses in New York, London, Miami.
What would the World say if “El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan” becomes closer to fruition and Southern California declares itself independent and is recognized so by Mexico, thus tearing down the barriers to a reunification with Mexico?
"Ukraine is not just a neighbor to us. … Since ancient times, people from ancient southwestern Russian lands were calling themselves Russians and Orthodox. That was happening until the 17th century when part of these territories rejoined the Russian state,” Putin asserted. “Modern Ukraine was completely created by Russia – to be more exact by Bolshevik communist Russia.” Putin went on to say, “Ukraine has never had stable traditions of their own statehood. Starting from 1991, they followed the path of the mechanical copying of foreign models that had nothing to do with their history or with the Ukrainian realities.” The Russian leader also claimed that Ukrainians do not have a real democracy and that “a network of foreign consultants and NGOs” make the decisions in Kyiv, rejecting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a figure of any influence.
“Do Ukrainians understand that their country has become not just a protectorate, but a colony?” Putin asked. Putin also attributed the creation of Ukraine to Vladimir Lenin personally and criticized anti-communists for removing monuments in his honor. “And now, the grateful descendants are demolishing all the statues and monuments of Lenin. They call it ‘decommunization,'” Putin said. “You want decommunization? Well, we are quite happy with that. But don’t stop halfway. We are ready to show you what actual decommunization would mean for Ukraine.” The Russian president also supported his decision to recognize pro-Russian separatists as a country by claiming that the Ukrainian government possessed weapons of mass destruction and could pose a nuclear threat to Russia. “Ukraine really has nuclear technology and carriers to deliver such weapons back from the Soviet times,” Putin claimed. “Getting a nuclear weapon would be much easier for Ukraine than certain other states … especially if they have technological support for abroad. … We cannot help but react to this threat.”
I’m sure we can look forward to multiple, deluded Blame-America-First posts every day from Unkle Carmine for the duration of this Russia/Putin inspired international crisis.
This is a clip from an episode of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning TV series Seinfeld called "The Label Maker." It's one of my all time favorite piece...

You mean listing facts that you can not dispute but have been conditioned to react in the exact manner you have reacted in?
You wish to dispute any facts I have listed have at it.
Media continues to push dumbest possible Russia analysis. For those who know nothing about Ukraine, Russia invaded when Biden was VP & President. Russia didn’t invade when Trump was President.
These facts contradict establishment narrative that Trump invited Russian predation.
Remember when Barack Obama urged the Russians to give him space until post-election, when he would have more "flexibility"; Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014.
And the Russian trolls had started the paid propaganda...
Donbas has the largest nuclear power plant in the entire Ukraine and second or third largest in the Europe. Donbas is the industrial power house of Ukraine, with vast amount of black coal and uranium. Why would, or should Ukraine give up its natural resources? It's their land, their country and Ukrainians should resist the Russian army's illegal breach of border.
If Putin is not slapped hard now, he won't later stop at anything. Go to hell with sanctions - Ukraine needs weapons and NATO forces should be stationed along the borders of its members ready to pounce at Russia at the slightest threat. Only then will Putin stop.
What he sees is indifference, non united approach of EU, USA and NATO at anything and everything.

Wrong, Sputnik. This statement by you — “The USA helped violently overthrow the elected (pro Russian) Ukraine Govt in 2014 and installed a puppet leader” — is so demented that I’m surprised Putin’s speechwriter from last night didn’t use it. Or maybe he did and that’s where you lifted it. I don’t know. Anyway, consider it disputed by every literate adult who’s not in your Blame-America-First conspiracy club.
You know when people here joke around about paid Russian trolls? You are the only poster where I sometimes wonder if it’s possibly true.

Putin is essentially an Anti-Zionist re: Ukraine. "It didn't use to exist, so it shouldn't now." It's about as convincing from Putin about Ukraine as it is from 19-year-old sophomores about Israel.
Putin is a narcissistic megalomaniac sociopath. There's no point in believing anything he says. Just follow the actions. And he wants to restore the Soviet sphere of influence. I feel like Russia would be better off actually trying to expand it's economy and improve trade and diplomatic relationships. But that would require more open, democratic measures and a downfall of the Russian mafia state. Nobody would willingly dismantle their own fiefdom. Seems more logical for them to expand their own fiefdom.

Carmine, even Russians don’t believe this deluded analysis.
It is possible to be plenty critical of American foreign policy and imperialism yet also recognize what Russia is pulling here. As bad as America can be, they can’t hold a candle to Russia. It’s time for NATO to make things so unbearable for Russia that continued rule by the Putin autocratic rule becomes untenable. We can’t have sawed-off little Napoleon wanna-be’s with delusions of grandeur invading and bullying sovereign nations in the year 2022. The historical parallels in Putin’s rhetoric with those of early-20th century despots is alarming.

In 1936 when Germany took the Rhineland in violation of the treaty of Versailles and even in 1938 when Germany took the Sudetenland England and France had the power to crush Germany if they wanted to. There's not much parallel today as NATO couldn't stop Russia even if it wanted to.
Sure, some people may come to US but only because of $. Thats it. Their culture has much more solidarity and continuity than you think.
We are interchanging 'solidarity' for 'authoritarian oppression' now. Nice!
Govt owned media outlets and physical harm or death to opposing views equals solidarity - Aimirite comrade!
Call it whatever you want. But your wrong.
Have you lived in Ukraine for more than 5 years? Do speak ukranian? How about Russia? What relevant experience do you know about the region that could contribute value to this conversation?
