I love this site and the "journalists" that run it. Such nonsense to get clicks. "Haymaker", such b/s. He reached out and grabbed the guy on the head, albeit aggressively. Fast forward to 2:26 to see the "haymaker". Congratulations, you're over dramatizing like the rest of the media.
I need to respond. The OP used the term haymaker but we changed the title as the OP also had something in the title along the lines of "racially charged". Szo we did not change the title to make it more inflammatory and get more clicks. In fact, we did opposite.
There is ZERO evidence this is racial in nature and we dont' think it's productive to assume every interaction between a white person and black person is racially charged. Sometimes competitive men get in a fight and most times race has nothing to do with it.
I appreciate you responding for clarification. However, in your edit, if you're going to use the phrase "make it factual", you might want to actually make it factual.
As a Michigan alum, I am disappointed. I was surprised when they hired Howard but have generally been impressed with the interactions I see between him and his players. They have also had a fair amount of success.
That being said, there are other fish in the pond. As a basketball coach in a very high profile team, you've got to have thicker skin. Michigan needs to move on.
I can't imagine any extenuating circumstance that would allow Michigan to condone such activity, especially since Howard didn't indicate anything of that nature. Not liking how the other guy coaches hardly rises to that level.

I totally agree Rojo, this was just frustrated Howard, period. I live in Michigan, I've been to games and I know. But...if the reverse happens, you CAN'T allow that thread to be titled as racist either. The LEFT screams racism for everything, and you sir are smart enough to know that. The next incident where a white person does the exact same thing....it CAN'T be titled racism or that is racism;).
P.s. He's worth over 80 million dollars although his basketball salaries have him at over $151 million and has surely invested well. If he did get fired, he'll get hired somewhere else. He just turned 49, he'll be fine.
The coach's head pops back. I predict soft tissue damage and lawsuit. Howard clenches his fist as soon as he hits the guy making it look like he is just bad at fighting.

Yeah Chris Webber would of at least knocked him out.
Howard needs to be gone. You and NOT have head coaches attacking others. This is waaaayy beyond suspension. An athlete can be suspended for something like this. The head coach needs to be gone.
He will be suspended for a couple games. Bobby Knight got away with much worse: punched a cop in Puerto Rico, choked his own player, assaulted an IU student, threw a chair on the court, etc.
Did any of those happening in this century. He should be fired but lunch time tomorrow.
30 or so dudes in a melee and the ONE guy that decides to throw the first punch is one of the head coaches. NO way to justify a 7 figure salary especially with his mediocre record.

Webber was all about the gratuitous use of time-outs.

Don't Houston the dialogue or I'll be forced to make you eat your words in Baltimore..don't think i won't.
Agree. Of course just last year he nearly did the exact same thing in a game against Maryland allegedly screaming at Mark Turgeon (the Maryland head coach) "I'm gonna f---ing kill you" as he was ejected from the arena.
Those who don't think race is a part of this - well it is. Howard then attributed his behavior to his upbringing on the south side of Chicago and that's how you act when you need to defend yourself. Of course let's contemplate what would have happened if someone pedaled the same narrative just from the other side of the fence - "Hey don't be so hard on Howard he's from the south side of Chicago and this is how they be when they think they need to defend themselves".
Michigan Basketball coach Juwan Howard gets ejected from him and Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon have a heated exchange as the benches clear. The Wolverines lead...
So watch this and then today and ask yourself if this guy should be coaching in college. This isn't an isolated incident - this is who Juwan Howard is. Last time I checked this is part of his place of work and he assaulted another person in his place of work. He's lucky he wasn't asked to head down to the local police station after the game.
100%... he was the aggressor, you can’t do that. He’s an adult in charge of the team, I couldn’t believe what I saw. First he walks up to and grabs the collar of the first guy and then comes back in trying to punch the other coach. If he doesn’t get fired that’s a complete joke and basically saying it’s okay to do what he just did.
completely unacceptable. People get fired over things they say, he physically was fighting the other coach, you don’t do that.
