Dropped the pacer already lol

The last pacer looks like he's had enough after only 4 kms. Kiplimo is flying.
13:23 5K split for Kiplimo! WR attempt is definitely on, that's 56:28 pace. He already broke away and has ~5 seconds on the field

His turnover is unreal.
13’23 through 5k

And 10+ guys at 13:28 or faster...
This could be huge, though there’s bound to be some carnage.
Then again, one would think it would be wise to have a pacer past 5K for a WR attempt or at least have a field to push you. Either way props to Kiplimo for going for it, this race is already very interesting
Dibaba dropped at 6k. Obiri still right at the front.
26:57 at 10k

WOW! This is exciting!!
Well his first 10k split is like 40-50s quicker than the winning time at Tokyo. Aiming for a soft time I guess
26:56 10K split for Kiplimo! Kwemoi in 2nd at 27:12, the field has strung out a lot. That was a 13:33 split, slowed down a bit but he still has a big cushion to get WR (and still technically sub-57 pace)
That would have been an official 5k "world record" like two years ago
Obiri's form is horrific compared to Gidey, but she is right on pace
Six women on 64:20 pace through 10k.
Just saw the 10k split. 26:57 is absurd, only one American has ever run faster than that for a 10k ever. Can Kiplimo actually keep this up?

Didn’t know she was sponsored by ON. How are their super shoes?
40:43 (13:47)

The answer appears to be no, but the WR is still in play. 40:43 at 15k. 5k splits so far of 13:23-13:33-13:47. Honestly I think he overcooked it.
