To go from 3:43.7 1500m to 3:56.40 mile is a huge improvement, about six seconds. The kid has got a great future. 3:56.4/7:57 compares well to Sahlman's 3:58 winning/probably mid 7:50s but a year older.

Great running by the 17 year old Griggs, but I've no problem with what Coscoran did to win . . . Griggs drafted off of him the whole race and I don't see why Coscoran was obliged to let him go by easily in the last 50m. I'm sure Coscoran was happy with the win and I'm sure that Griggs was happy with his 3:56 mile.
Wow. If he's able to compete that well with Coscoran, then he could just go pro in the outdoor season. It would be nice to see him compete with others at his own level in the NCAA though.
“That idiot is an Olympic semi finalist and 3.53 miler. What are you?“
Actually a 4:06 guy back in the day, but you could clearly see he swung wide in the straight to block his acceleration at the end. It’s a total lame ass move and not very honest. The kids amazing but a “if I can’t hold him off, I’ll cut him off strategy” is total BS!!!
