This is analogous to the supershoe debate or why there the concentration of world-class distance runners is in very specific parts of East Africa.
This is not analogous. There are track and field champions from all continents and many different ethnic backgrounds. If we did not have separate men's and women's divisions, there would never be any women close to making the Olympic final, and very rarely any women even qualifying for a team at any level below that down to high school competition. Athing Mu is a generational talent with an Olympic gold and the American record. Without a women's division, she would have been at best pretty decent at the high school level and maybe able to run D2/D3, but she would have had no chance of winning at the college level or having a pro career.
Supershoe debate: Want to run in supershoes? Anyone who wants can do it for $250 or less. Again, not analogous.
