Ted Nugent Rails Against Rock Hall of Fame for Inducting Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash and Madonna

Prince and Nugent are on completely different levels.

Nugent is the sort of guy whose playing wows amateurs and bores musicians and pros. He's a run of the mill guitarist. Prince was a genius outlier whatever one thinks of his music. And a much better guitarist than Nugent.

Nugent's never had a cogent opinion. Grandmaster Flash, Patti Smith, and Madonna are all fundamental and the first two of them were among the progenitors of their form of music. When you look at the members of the HOF, those three would not stick out as unworthy at all. Considering that Miles Davis is in there, why object to rap, punk, and pop inductees? There are tons of them already. The ship has sailed.

You know, Grandmaster Flash was inducted in 2007. This grievance is old. And also, I just listened to some Nugent again, and folks, he is terrible. You can't listen to that stuff.

If he didn't shoot off some wild attention-getting political conspiracy theory every year or so, I'd bet none of his "fans" here or anywhere else would even know who he is. Two or three wankarama schlock-rock songs (e.g., Cat Scratch Fever) get minimal airplay on classic rock stations, otherwise this is a pretty forgettable career. The geek really needs to start drinking.

[Yawn] When it comes to art, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm not a fan of the R&R HOF, but I don't have an issue with the newly announced decisions. The HOF certainly has made worse choices in the past.

It is typical of Nugent that he is so self-absorbed that he thinks people should care about his opinion regarding the recent inductees and who should be in the HOF instead. Triumph? Really? Their impact on R&R is negligible.

Rock is a child of R n R.

Note that Alternative Rock is a child of plain Rock. Other children of Rock include pop punk, electronic rock, rap rock/metal, post-punk and techno-pop.

What you boys need to do is create your own Rock ONLY HOF to get rid of the Roll part you all despise. But you'll have an impossible time aborting all of the children of Rock already born, as well as the parents and grandparents of Rock.

We all hate the Nuge-full nut job, but cat scratch fever his only song? He has a dozen songs on regular daily rotation on every classic rock station across the country 20/30/40 years later with no let up? Forgettable? Only to you my friend, only to you.
