I love track and field. Been a runner for 40 years, but track is never going to be a popular sport in the United States. That’s not being negative that’s just facts. If you want to improve it you need matchups ie the sprints the 800/1500. Numbers wise nobody cares about the distance races except us distance runners
NBC Burbank in Hollywood always makes money on the Olympics. That's Hollywood for you. The best and most talented people in the television, journalism , and sports marketing world work at NBC in Hollywood. Having track and field, road races, cross country, and marathons from cow towns, college tracks, and residential zones for Interstate truck stop employees sadly hasn't ever made money atall and it appears it never will.
NBC - garbage coverage, infantile commentators, horrific transparency with peacock, commercials during the main action
I bought a VPN and streamed everything from CBC and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of T&F olympics

No fans in the venues. That looked bad on TV and no roaring crowd made for dull viewing.
The rest of the world is catching up in some sports that the USA once dominated. Americans typically tune out if victory isn't assured.
They also tend to tune out when the face of their Olympic team quits the games because she got nervous.
I’d like to also add that this is what Nuguse did, basically the same thing as Biles, citing a different minor “injury”. How can you expect the fans to care about the Olympics when the athletes competing don’t give a sh!t?

Peacock was actually pretty good for coverage of niche events, but it made discovering random events harder and I'm sure fewer people bothered with that than would watch decent TV broadcasts. Meanwhile NBC's primetime coverage continued to be awful (showing promo reels for swimming or talking heads instead of track semifinals, cutting up events to the point of being like a highlight reel).
Speaking from the perspective of a die hard track fan, I didn’t really watch this olympics due to the time difference. I think many people had this issue, many of the events had already happened by the time I woke up, and I ended up just watching some highlights on YouTube and looking at the results
