And Eyestone and Smith and Juma and Bickford and Jones
along with the others mentioned above.
At first guess I want to say Musyoki and Barie for the other Africans but I could be way off.
I keep looking back at that pic,
I think the african in the mid-back is abrah Agera (cs?)
The other is NOT Musyoki, maybe Kamau, it's been a while.
How about Ibraham Hussein?
These are spectacular photos! Thanks for posting them. Classics!
Kamau is #7, Ikangaa is #3. Ken Martin is behind Eddy. I think that's Dave Gordon in front of Bick turning his head. Don't remember if he shaved his moustache that year.

Anyone else got any sweet 70's/80's running pics? Please post them if you do.
who of them is steve jones?
that's Jones to Eyestone's left with the Reebok uniform and the #2 showing on the number
I'm pretty sure thats Officer Randy Blinks of the Massachusetts State Police on the motorcycle in back.
He had a really good bike that year...nice and shiny...and I think he was on marathon duty too.
Ahhhh they don't make cops like Randy anymore!
Most of IDs are correct. Malmo and Mplatt did a good job identifying those in the Boston 87 photo.
From Left to Right:
Ed Eyestone, Gabriel Kamau, Steve Jones, Arega Abraha, Ken Martin, Eddy Hellebuyck, Bruce Bickford, Geoff Smith, Juma Ikangaa, then I don't know the Japanese guy - probably Kita who Malmo identified, and I can't remember #17 in the Reebok gear.
Superb photos.
Here's a little quiz:-
From the
1980 Pepsi 10K National Championship, Purchase, NY.
photo can anyone name #72 in the lead, name his country, and why he was in the news last year?
It's Matthews Motsawaratu (spelling?). I think he set a world record for 10K on the road that day. Why he was in the news last year, I have no idea. Do I get half the prize?
Other trivia...BR ran the Pepsi race on that Saturday, then flew to Canada and won the Toronto Marathon THE NEXT DAY in 2:13 or 2:14. So much for tapering.
..in the news last year because he was killed in a shooting I believe in his home country.
Good observation Skylon. No prize yet. Still parts 2 & 3 to answer.
Correct spelling was Matthews Motswarateu I believe.
Want to try for the shiny new dime by answering his country and why he was in the news last year?
Correct as to why he was in the news lasy year, but he did not die in the country he represented as an athlete.
Bonus question on this same photo: who in this pic still holds an American record?
br 25k track
That's ONE of the answers...
Is that Steve Scott at the back? Could that be the answer?
