I’m pretty sure this happens routinely in lots of towns. It’s no big deal. People just laugh it off and go about their business.

You've watched too many Disney films if you think that nature isn't capable of being violent. Monkeys are intelligent, fiercely protective and act as a group. This would not surprise me in the least.

Of course nature is violent. Animals kill each other literally all the time. But that doesn't make this course of events likely. If the Daily Mail reported that monkeys were taking live dogs, sedating them, sawing off the tops of their skulls, and forcing the dogs to eat chunks of their own brains, would you believe that too on the principle that, well, real nature is not some Disney movie? In other words, what probably happened is that the monkeys were acting more aggressive than usual for whatever reason, perhaps killed a dog or two, and lo and behold, the Daily Mail turned them into a bunch of calculating, rampaging serial killers.

Yes, actually it's well-known that in those types of communities, monkeys maintain a registry of all the local dogs and their addresses, so they can track them down if necessary.

Every time I visit this site I see an enraged monkey posting about anti-vaxxers.

The story & headline frame it incorrectly, they stole the younger dogs. Which is still impressive given that they had to sneak them out from the protection of their parents. And potentially a more sophisticated manner of extermination by by only eliminating the breedable population. Only wipe out the breedable generation and eventually the clock runs out on the species. Saves resources and makes the defeat more humiliating as the elder dogs have a decade to stew in their defeat before finally going extinct.

These monkeys are just using dogs as a trial run to prepare for human extermination.

Sounds a little extreme but I know Indian monkeys are pretty mean.

They steal food all the time. I saw some weird encounters while I was there.
