The record Brosnan is referring to is Ritz’s 14:10 at the Michigan state meet, which is the fastest 5K ever run in HS XC. Not the 14:29.
The RunningLane course is blazing fast so they definitely have a shot. Parker Wolfe ran 14:26 there last year. He was a hell of a runner, one of the best to ever come through Colorado. Ran 8:43 for 2 miles in the spring. But I certainly would think Sahlman and maybe the Young twins are superior to his 2020 form this year. I just don’t know if they are 16+ seconds superior.
Leo Daschbach and Cole Sprout also ran 14:14 and 14:16 at the Casa Tempe course in 2019.
RoJo said he wanted them to run at footlocker so he could compare them to Ritz because it would be on the same course, and I was pointing out that Dathan's FL times aren't from the current course.

The two things are not mutually exclusive you know. The best coach in the world can be the most egotistical also. He could be an alcoholic. He could cheat on his wife. Brosnan may be the nicest guy in the world. I have never met him. But this quote is odd. I do agree that some guys will run 14 flat this week.

Obviously he is a huge reason they are successful. Doesn’t mean he isn’t egotistical. Having watched a lot of coaches stay out of the award ceremony at NXN I definitely found it tacky that he was the first person on the stage holding the trophy, etc. It’s first and foremost about the athletes. Being the best HS coach in the country is great, but it’s still about the kids.
So what if they run under 8:30 for 3200 meters, they still will not be sub-9 two milers.

Ruben Reina is not the GOAT of high school cross country, despite his FL Balboa Park Record. There is video of the 1985 course was different than it is today.

I believe the real course record belongs to Chris Solinsky who ran 14:40 back in 2002. We know that Solinsky's times on the track 8:42 for 3200m back up his exceptional record. Ritz never ran on the CA course so we don't know what his time equivalent would be.

Well, it's not a question at all as you already knew the answer, Dathan ran both of those FL races at Orlando.
Believe what you want about Dathan and what he would have done at Balboa, but...he was tough as nails in high school and I'd bet he would have beaten the Balboa record by the way he dismantled both Webb and Hall in 2000 in Orlando.
Don't forget, it was hot and humid when he ran that time his senior year in Orlando. San Diego's average high in December is 64+ degrees. And he beat Webb by 20 seconds and Hall by more in Orlando.

There are multiple course setups there, but the Footlocker course is identical.
The course conditions seem to have physically changed though, from video at least

Assuming he's referring to the 2-mile, running 8:30 requires having the ability to run 4:00.
