Considering the totality of research on the long-term effectiveness of weight loss programs, this might be the understatement of the year. Just eat reasonably and don't over-restrict like your teammates, and let your weight end up where it wants to be. That's what ends up happening in the long run even when you diet, so why not just ... not pass out in the meantime?
