As we live in a material world , money matters up to a point.

However, there is a big difference between Europe and USA. We in Europe have on average more holiday days and work less. And we in Europe believe most people in USA just care about money and not much more. We have a complete different social system too.

Norway is expensive yes, but he lives in a cheap place property wise, grows some of his own food, doesn't need to buy any more clothes or sports gear, and doesn't spend as much on this and that. If he ever wants to do a new expedition he would get sponsors for that in a heartbeat. Honestly we should be happy for him rather than this passive aggressive vibe you have.

Don't kid yourself, Kilian cares about profit. He is very competitive and promotes himself hard. It is far more likely he has determined he can make more money for himself doing his own thing rather than making a profit for Salomon and taking a cut. it's a natural progression to want to be his own boss.

Don't get me wrong here, I like Kilian, but if you think he isn't hyper competitive and motivated by money, you haven't been watching.

Walmsley had a good quote about Kilian's competitive nature in Rise of the Ultrarunners. Can't remember it exactly so this is a pretty useless post lol

don't for a second believe that extended Salomon family won't be involved in his "next project".

nobody of kilian's stature takes on a new project with a clean slate of support personnel like designers, engineers, product managers, supply chain, etc. He's so technical in what he wants and worked closely with salomon on everything they developed for his sports it's hard to imagine him being patient or risky enough to just let fly with a completely new team.

this would be like Jordan deciding not to use Nike assets to build his brand.

This is so weird. I've only said that I dont think his main motivation behind stopping with Salomon is $$$, I've never talked about him being competetive or not.

My first thought was ON with the recyclied shoes but then he said he was not going to an established brand. I wonder if perhaps were taking that statement to literally and he's going to start his own private label brand under Solomon concentrated on upcycled or recyclable gear.

Maybe not even Solomon but a new brand under the Amer Sports umbrella.

I used to debate with liberals using logic and reason. I presented arguments in respectful ways. Liberals don’t respond well with that style of argumentation, as you put it. They prefer to just respond with name calling and emotional tirades.

Rumor has it he is signing with British Knights brand as they expamd into trail running.

Salomon is probably pushing him out after he got dusted by those children, local club runners and multi-chicked when he tried to run a 10K road race in some little Norwegian village.
