Bowerman Track Club's Women's Team - Much Smaller & No New Recuits

I wrote it on another thread but I'll ask here.

Does anyone know if Nike is still Sponsoring Shelby? Is she working for them now or employed by them? It just seems so crazy that they would sponsor an athlete who is banned....

Is it fair to compare the size of the men's and women's squads based on number of people rather than the total comp/contract size? I really have no idea, but maybe more of the men have smaller contracts whereas the women have a larger average contract. So total budgets might not be as different as the # of people implies.

I assume she is still being paid by them and why not? She will be back before you know it, and she will need to be sponsored.

Mistake for Seccafien. Bideau burns people but not as bad as Schumacher.

Seccafien literally couldn't get back into Australia post Tokyo and had been training solo/away from the rest of MTC since May. Could easily see this as a better be in a group I can actually train with than one that's stuck in perpetual lockdown. Old friends with GDS, plus Seccafien showed at PTF and Sound Running she can hold her own vs some of the better Americans so why not?

Yup. Got a running friend from University of Toronto and was an open secret for awhile that L Stafford was going. Stopped working out with the UofT group/coach Radchenko more than a month ago.

Ineligibility means exactly what it says – you cannot take part in any competition or the activities of an International Federation, its member national federations or their member clubs. This includes training with your club or team or using facilities that are linked with your club or team.

It says a lot about a professional runner if they don't mind practicing with a convicted drug cheat. Who else is cheating? I no longer trust Jerry.

Sooooo.....who wants to report (snitch) on the BTC to WADA that they are violating clearly stated anti-doping rules and still training Holihan?

This is yet another great example of why professional track and field needs to divorce itself from Nike and Oregon. Can you imagine the Yankees, Manchester United, the Steelers, the Bulls, or the Bruins relying on a single sponsor or university to fund their professional contracts?

No but those are actual teams in sports that generate significant revenue from TV, attendance, and merchandising. If Nike makes a Yankee shirt, Yankee fans buy the shirt because it says Yankees, not Nike. The Yankees are in the superior position in that relationship -- they can get any company to make Yankee shirts.

People call BTC a team, but it is really a training group. They almost never compete as a team, there are almost no events in which they could compete as a team if even if they wanted to, only a few people know that running teams exist, and even fewer root for a running "team". (I personally wish professional running had real teams , but that is just not how pro running works.)

The stench of suspicion will emanate from that group forever more. There is no reason to believe that any of them are clean or without guilt.

I doubt Infield is even actually on “the team” anymore. Doesn’t seem like she works out with anyone on current roster and everyone she was close with have left.

Plus she has not had great things to say about Nike or Jerry. I imagine we’ll be seeing a new sponsor in 2022.

Why would she gain a new sponsor while banned?

Emily isn't banned. She also had almost all of BTC to her wedding.

She has said she hasn't been happy with her training set up for a while. Too many people. Well, a lot of them left so many less of an issue now?
