I would have to see how you look when you race. Eg. I saw Molly Huddle at about the 9 mile mark, Twin Cities 10 mile, 2015. She looked great. That said, there were subtle things about her running form and stride, Molly Huddle was ideal for on the track racing. Same thing I noticed with Mohammed Farah's running form, ideal for track racing. Trying to change your running form and how many pounds of pressure you push off with your big toe when racing Marathon may mess everything up. You know your running form when you race, if not film yourself.

This is almost embarrassing to ask, but is it possible for anyone to break 2:30 or even 2:40 in the marathon with the right training? In college (D3), I ran 4:27 for the mile, 9:10 for the 3k, 16:49 for the 5k, and 34:58 for the 10k. I graduated two years ago and since have run 4 marathons all in the 2:44 to 2:48 range. I know I don’t have fast PRs, but I guess what I’m asking is are some people just that untalented that they can’t break 2:40? My original goal was to chase a sub 2:30 time (I know that was pushing it based off my PRs), but I have been running nearly 100 miles a week in every buildup with workouts and long runs (up to 24 miles) and everything. I’m wondering if I need to adjust my goals and just accept the fact that I’m slower and that the 100 mpw are a waste of time for someone of my ability. All the other guys on my college team seem to run low 2:30s (or even sometimes mid 2:20s for a few) rather easily after graduation. Also, I’m not saying that my times are awful. I’m just saying with the amount of work I have been putting in I was expecting a little more out of myself and was rather frustrated after Boston.
I ran 5k in 16:30, 10k in 34:30, 1:16 half the year I broke 2:40 in the marathon. I have far less speed then most of the guys that I know that have broken too, as I have broke 2:30 with a 1:13 half pr. Some guys are just short distance guys and some are long distance
