Let’s see if she’s rich 10 years from now. I’m guessing she won’t be. DFL doesn’t pay well

Im enjoying the damage control from shacarri fans in the face of this last place finish.

I think you need to learn to distinguish personality from behaviour.
Here in Europe, people are shocked by the way she behaves and e presses herself. She comes across as someone really badly brought up, with no manners, who is trashy. Thats because of the way she speaks and the things she says. It's clear that she doesn't come from a background where success is normal, and she clearly needs some help in dealing with it that she isn't currently getting. Plenty of people come from humble backgrounds but do not behave like trash.
Dina Asher Smith is another sprinter who can be arrogant on TV, because listening to someone telling the audience how wonderful they are repeatedly isn't very great, but she's only about 20% as bad as Richardson, and has clearly been brought up a bit better.
Personality is about far more than that. Her behaviour is awful, her personality might be fine.
I took nothing you said in your post seriously after I almost got through the entire thing. You lost me at Dina Asher-Smith (whom I have followed religiously for the past 6 years). Very confident...absolutely. Arrogant? GTFOH with that Eurotrash drivel.
This forum is funny. Apparently track athletes have to come from a rich successful background to be liked. The Trump comparisons are comical. They are nothing alike.
I just saw the post race interview and became a fan.
No ones saying they only respect old money. We can all respect people with humble beginnings.
The argument, which youre ignoring, is that a lot of times new money doesn't know how to act. Shacarri embodies that trashiness that comes with new money. That's why people dont like her. Some people enjoy the clownshow and even find it endearing, others just find it offputting.

I see her as pretty endearing too. She seems to me like she's coming from a place where she always had to stick up for yourself. Everyone complaining about her attitude has obviously never grown up in Philly.

No, her fans clearly don’t like it. That’s why she’s gone from being worshipped to clowned over the span of two months.
She’s arrogant, disrespectful, unsportsmanlike, and has embarrassed the country and her teammates by not being able to resist the urge to smoke weed, bomb out of the olympics, say she was America’s only chance, then talking about how she’s gonna blow the doors off of everyone and never give up only to DFL the 100m and give up on the 200m.
I cannot see how people see her as some kind of poster child for USA track or any kind of positive influence. She takes her gift for granted and is anything but humble.
I know it’s harsh but that’s what I see.
lemme guess....you were a huge fan right up until that failed test though, right?

Nope. Her arrogance has always gotten on my nerves. The whole weed thing gave me a giggle though.

Why so much hate for the little girl? She has a personality. It’s what gave her fame and money, not her running talent alone. Her sponsors like it and her fans like it. She’s not going to change who she is because she lost a race really bad.
It’s just a race. And if it’s not, she’ll probably slowly fade away, but still probably be rich and famous. All sports have athletes who get a disproportionate share of fan and sponsor attention relative to their talent because they have a personality fans love. Or fans love and hate at the same time.

You can apply Godwin’s Law to nearly every thread on LetsRun only with Trump instead of Nazis.

It's an act, she is extremely insecure underneath all the talk. She needs to address that if she is to every get her stuff together. Why is nobody in her inner circle telling her what she needs to here to screw her head on right?

It seems like the reason most people like Sha'Carri, is the same reason they hate Trump...maybe even vice versa, it's funny how that works. They don't even see it.
Trying to make comparisons to things or people as being like Nazis is real dumb. People who compare Trump to Nazis are also real dumb.

She said she had a bad race but she will be back, and congratulated the winners. How is this trashy? Emma Coburn accuses the winner of being drug cheats but everyone here loves her. LoL.
Did you even watch the interview.

You're talking about the 2nd interview, after she realized she needed to go do damage control.
Most people saw the first one, and it looked real bad. Almost nobody was defending her online after that one. A lot of people I saw defend her previously admitted it looked real bad and said they were not so sure they could support her anymore.
OozmaKappa wrote:

Probably not the first one, the second one is playing to the right. I watched it about a half an hour ago. She did better there, but only after calming down and probably being told to go do damage control. Regardless if anyone else told her to, she realized how bad it was/is.
It's like her interview after winning the trials, when people said she sounded dumb. I think a lot of people will sound dumb after a race, when they are out of breathe and emotional. Probably nervous in front of cameras too, because we all know her "arrogance" is an act to hide insecurities.
Regardless, she needs to stop putting her foot so far into her mouth. Soon it'll be too late, and she won't be able to get it back out.

Instead of starting a new thread to misrepresent things. Why don't you go watch the first interview, the one that happened out on the track. You know, the one with the Jamaican girls laughing at her,
Maybe you guys want track to stay as small as possible but I am happy to have her
When is the last time you seen so many people talking about a track meet outside of the olympics? Today was an amazing day for our sport and hopefully we can have more moments like this. More athletes need to show their personalities. More rivalries. Doing things to promote the sport and bring some flare to it so the sport can grow. We need more “bolts”
Thank you to SCR for today and bringing so many new eyes to our sport. Our athletes need to all take note. It will also benefit them and their pockets
I think she is the perfect representation of modern america. Great role model as well
Bottom line interest level: Sha'carri's post race YouTube interview by Letsrun has more than 62,000 views and over 1000 comments. Most of them are below 1000 views with only a handful of comments. Jakob is second place currently with 3700 views.
