Mate - you think Perec was clean? My ex-girlfriend is CURRENTLY in the French national team and told me when we were together the real reason why Perec didnt compete in the Sydeny 2000 Olympics was because the French federation couldnt be f***ed covering her ass one more time and basically said, if you go and get caught you are on your own this time, and you will lose your French records etc etc. Hence wild accusations of death-threats yadda yadda yadda.

I shared the track with Jarmila in Los Angeles in 1984 one day when we were both doing intervals. Stood a couple of feet away frem her when we both hit the water fountain. She wasn't a man, but she was a beast of a woman. That photo does not even begin to do justice to the muscles that were busting out of her legs.

I'm reminded of a contestant on one of the fixed 1950s quiz shows (Dotto), one Marie Winn, who had memorized the answers to the night's questions backstage before appearing on the program. Another contestant found a notebook with all the questions and answers written in it, implicating Winn as party to the rigging. Winn was on stage immediately answering questions without time for thought, and smiling broadly at each confirmation of a correct answer, as if actually proud - "Boy, I sure know a lot of trivia! What an accomplishment! I'm so happy that I'm so intelligent and well-learned compared to the other contestants!"

The "accomplishments" of Fatima Whitbread, Jarmila Kratochvilova, Flo-Jo, or any doper are precisely equal to those of Marie Winn. Yet they smile, as if saying to themselves, "Oh, I have accomplished so much on my own merit. I'm so proud and happy about what I was able to do through my own efforts." Seriously, why do any of them have a reason to be proud?

Notice how the crooked producers tried to cover things up as long as possible, denying wrongdoing until the proof was incontrovertible. Exactly like druggies and their agents in sports!

Not everything you see is as you believe it to be.

flo-jo doesn't look that differently in those pictures, even at her peak she was very lean. She looked like all the other women she was competing with. Early death isn't an indication of drug use, every year we hear of another story of a healthy young person dieing mysteriously, don't assume.
