Ok, I just watched the whole race, and focused very closely on Parsons' body language and also the splits and his race position. I have never seen someone drop out with 600-800 to go in a 5,000 unless they literally were shoved, tripped up or somehow incurred an injury due to the race at that point. Parsons did not have any of those things occur. This is merely due to Parsons not being in shape, and honestly, there was no way Parsons could have closed a 13:30 tactical race right now with a 2:32.1 last 1,000. He is definitely not in shape to be dropping a 2:32 last K. He realized he is not good enough to win the German champs, and dropped out, and cooked up an excuse by holding his foot for the camera to see. Will then hop on social media, and post a video about how it had somehow been bothering him.
