Lagat was 41 and got in the 5000m in 2016. But yeah, age is not just a number. If LRC is to be believed though, Kipchoge is super old now if he was an age cheat in 2004.
Age is not just a number for elite athletes but can be fit general health. I’m stronger at 40 then I was at 25. But at 25 I drank a lot and didn’t lift weights. Now I drink moderately and lift weights. But my 25 year old self had the potential to be stronger then my 40 year old self if I had put the same work in I do now.
Peter De LeCerda was not 38 in 2000. He was 28.
Seeing Andrew Wheating in there raises the better question of who are the TALLEST and SHORTEST US track athletes.
Also the fattest, and the skinniest. Throwers count.
