Thompson well back now. Be interesting to see how it unfolds when the pace makers bow out.
I’m with Hutchins on the pacing debate.

"Bouncing along...as in the bouncy shoes? Duh.
The pace-setter in the mango-orange pants is in AlphaFly's or VaporFlys. The tight corners present a bit of challenge in them.
That's Jake Smith 60:30 HM PR. Not a bad person to have pacing.
Dewi looking really relaxed, I hope he's back

good talk on pace makers.
The Olympics is a race, time doesnt matter, so athletes need to have a race brain. Pace makers takes away the race brain. All the women running to pace, not race; not learning how to compete.
says Mara.
ladies 52:41 at 15k. ahead of req.
Yes however given that opportunities to achieve the Olympic standard have been so limited, it was a very good choice by British Athletics to provide pacers to give the eventual top three today the best chance of achieving that standard.
Also remember that they usually just use the top British finishers at London Marathon to decide their team.
ben connor making a major mistake here all he needs is top 2 (i think)i cant see aadan keeping this pace

I think they are VaporFly's, as I can't make out air-pods.
Beautiful grounds to run in, but the wet tarmic in places is probably a bit slick; it adds up over the distance.
and the bbc commentary team dont know the national flowers of the UK.
ridiculous.
they sound very knoweadgable on uk athletics though.
Chris Thompson still on 2:10 pace, big PB if he maintains. I hope he can, he's been around for ages but never got close to his debut marathon performance.
Mo Aadan still looking pretty comfortable
Women 1:10:20 at 20k. 30 secs inside the qualifying standard.
One of the pacers for the women's lead group "won" the New York marathon last year, Kevin Quinn, the shorter guy
I’d like to see Thommo hang on too but think he’s going to struggle in the second half.
Interesting to hear Hutchins say that Paula Radcliffe felt the pacemakers didn’t really help her. Was it Rojo or Wejo who paced her in Chicago?
Wejo.
He was referring to her 2:15 in London. Wejo paced her in Chicago
They should've put it on the red button. Maybe could be a timing issue though, I'm not sure if they use that before 7pm.
Kew is one of the warmest places in the UK.
Jake Smith will be at least a 2:07/08 marathoner in the next five years
Does anyone know if there are live splits for the rest of the field online anywhere? Would love to know how other Brits in the field are doing?
Pink shorts
Flapping in the breeze
2:10 will be
Accomplished with ease
Away the men go
Some in grey pants
Probably the safe choice
Not to do a Mantz
Me I'd really like to know how some of the others are doing. I looked on the British Athletics website earlier but couldn’t find anything.
Re Jake Smith, he looks impressive. I wonder what would happen if he ran the whole distance and achieved the qualifying time?
Does this help?
