Almost every NCAA coach is scheduling to hit the reset button after this week, aren’t they? This is the “end of winter track,” not the “beginning of spring track,” right? Think about it this way: On a normal year, college runners hit an NCAA XC meet in late November, an NCAA indoor meet the first of March and an outdoor championship in mid-June. Folks looking to be on the podium (for 1500m+ events) if the stars align, would logically build their winters, delay the end of their first block until March (many would be running world XC at this time if we had a non-COVID calendar), and build to peak in the end of the summer. I feel for a lot of the Americans who tried to get (at least) a trials time and narrowly missed; it makes for a more dicey and stressful schedule moving through the spring.

I loved the Sinclair interview. She said the game plan is to now shut it down. This is why Jerry is the best. Anyone that thinks this is the start to outdoor season will be toast in June. You can not be sharp in early March and expect to build on that until the trials without a shut down.
Jerry hasn't produced an Olympic Champion or a podium finish yet. (Shalene's was before Schumacher)
We can't call him the "best" quite yet, in the US nor the World (no!)
Hopefully BTC brings home some hardware this summer!
Until then, by Oly standards, Jerry might be a great coach but there are certainly more credentialed coaches both recently and especially historically.
....
Evan Jager Olympic Silver in 2016. World Champs Bronze in 2017
Emily Infeld 2015 World Champs Bronze
Amy Cragg 2017 World Champs Bronze
Mo Ahmed 2019 World Champs Bronze (and a close 4th in 2016)
Not as many WC or Olympic medals as Salazar but there are plenty of other "elite" or "professional" coaches with much less hardware.
