I hope we get to see the sharpening workouts in the spring. Henry is the darkhorse guy to be factor at the trials. He had a huge breakthrough in 2019 and then missed out on the chance to follow it up. Yorks is sort of in that same boat of needing that last couple of seconds. It will be interesting to see if we can see the difference between them an Kerr who has run those couple seconds faster.

Yeah it’s amazing to see such fast milers doing such long strength workout. In college, the strength work was XC and then it immediately transitioned into punishing track work
I love what Spencer and the Beasts have created. And I'm older than Garrett.. Really old.

I've seen this idea thrown around a few times on these threads. I'm just curious, what makes their training so terrible? Is it the low mileage they do? They've had some decent athletes come out of the program - like Bartelsmeyer and Joe White - and are usually in the mix for the Natty DMR.

I honestly feel like these youtube channels are one of the best paths to expanding the sport because it makes these athletes seem more human, rather than just a number, and it gives you people to cheer for when watching track meets.

Thats the big complaint. And the workouts they do aren't exactly killer either. They are a school that does get a lot of talent and they do OK. But everyone here is in the 90+mpw or you aren't trying camps.

Exactly. It's not fair to expect Spencer, with a 3:39 PB to be doing the same workouts/volume as Josh Kerr (3:32 PB).
This also has the potential to be a great case study where we can see how an above average, but not standout, college athlete (who still probably wouldn't normally get to train with a group like the Beasts) reacts/develops to pro training. It's not often that you get to see a 3:39 guy join one of the best pro groups out there and get to follow along with his progression. Who knows, if he gets down into the low 3:30s, maybe you'll see more collegians get a chance at a pro deal because coaches will see they can develop those kids into better athletes.

Very true, and anything can happen. Nobody has mentioned that Henry Wynne was only a 3:38 guy in college (yes, I know, he is also an NCAA champ, but still) and look what happened to him.
Every week theres a new AS video, and every week theres a new anonymous poster trolling about said video. Get a life. This is like the third one in a row now.
I used to literally forget the Brooks Beasts even existed, and I am a serious running enthusiast (evidence, I'm wasting my time posting here).
But because of TAS and Allie I'm kind of interested in the team, thinking about getting some hyperion tempo 2s, etc.
I honestly don't expect TAS to have more than about 2 good races in his life but why hate on free youtube content I can watch instead of doing my stupid job?

I could definitely see Spencer running 3:37 and finished 8th in his heat at the OTs and getting signed full time by Brooks - I think that would be a successful season and could see him getting down to 3:34-5 by like the 2024 OTs. I think it’s telling that Ribich and Kerr are speaking about doing some YouTube content under the sit & kick banner. It’s obvious Brooks and Danny have seen the positive already from TAS documenting the group

I think 3:37ish is definitely doable for Spencer, seeing as he’s run 3:39 and it looks like he’s doing better training now. 3:34 seems a bit out of his wheelhouse though.
His YouTube channel is a definite plus for Brooks. I bet there are way more people interested in Brooks and the Beasts now.
