I really think the gate-keepers should strive to be neutral. That means the news media, and it also means sites like this. It is as if they are the referees, and when it appears that they are instead biased towards one side or the other, then all sense of fairness goes out the windows and the gloves come off. For that reason, i suggest that the mods here and the owner of the site not appear to take even the slightest side on any of these issues. It won't serve the discussion well at all.

Yeah but Trump was not the problem. Trump was the symptom. If you cannot acknowledge that there is no point on further discussion. The problem remains and the embrace of Trump by the right is inexcusable.

I don't think so. The left wing only allows opposing viewpoints from approved opposition, which is to say, it's either no opposition at all or weak, token opposition. (ex. Colmes on Hannity and Colmes, Mitt Romney).

It will be interesting to see where things go from here. The American Left keeps getting Lefter which makes finding middle ground all that much more difficult. It's Utopia or bust.

Interesting responses. I am admittedly left leaning and I have never really considered the fact that why I find it exhausting is because I am not used to reading opinions that differ so drastically from mine. As someone else mentioned, maybe I need to be more tolerant and be more open minded. Something that I think will be easier for me now that Trump is hopefully out of the picture.

Rojo, you made a really great point about the algorithm-based society we live in today. The more you feed someone exactly what they want, the more likely they are to seek it out. There is a lot of money in that type of self-fulfilling indulgence. A pretty scare thought, actually.

Trump received excellent ratings from pro-life organizations and cut funding to Planned Parenthood which, in the US in a recent year (1 October 2017 - 30 September 2018) according to its own reporting, killed 345,672 innocent human beings via abortion. I receive pro-life newsletters praising him as the most pro-life US President since Roe was decided in 1973. And that is not sarcasm.

It it because of the way media is changing. People with no formal education and conspiratories reach lots of people.

Many also listen more to media channels that are on the same side as they are. That is Just plane stupid. I listen more to media that I dont agree on than the other way around. That way i am sure to watch things from every side. There is no 100% right or wrong, good or bad.

Many are getting more and more brainwashed and use bad words. Calling politicans stupid or saying they have demesia is crazy. Also remember that US dont have a true left side. Even Sanders is in the middle of the political spectrum if you are from Europe...

McCarthyism was the practice of accusing people of being communist.

There was a Hollywood Blacklist because film and media was perceived as left-wing. There was the 'Lavender Scare' where gays were automatically communists because of their subversive behavior. 600 teachers lost their jobs. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) was communist apparently. Health programs such as water fluoridation and mental health provision resisted as mind control.

Compare this to today. Hollywood and media routinely accused of bias; schools and colleges characterized as propaganda-machines; trans people viewed with suspicion and more recently the WHO (World Health Organization) - another UN agency denounced as a puppet. Vaccines still considered weapons of control and a growing opposition to vegan or vegetarianism.

THAT'S McCarthyism. These tropes from the Right have been far more effective than any comparable fascist-scare from the left.

That's your opinion and you are allowed to Express it here. Thanks for sharing. I believe, that as long as each of identifies as Left or Right, Republican or Democrat, the divide will only widen.
