Bumbi ran 4:04 with mono, back in ‘09 at Penn State I believe. Underrated career highlight. Hats off to one of the fiercest competitors I ever met.
You don't realize how long some of these guys have been at it in the pro ranks. Bumbi has been with BTC since 2010. That is what the sports needs in this country.

Levins or Derrick is probably the next to go.

I agree with taking Bumbalough’s career, but I think Will Leer’s career was clearly stronger than Merber’s.
Wasn't looking to further split hairs with the Leer comparison on brass tacks.
More a 30,000' view comparison of a Leer as a mostly-siloed miler, with moderate length career, minimal international results to note and above-average social media/conversational presence in the sport.
And I do give Merber big props for his impact, involvement and notoriety in the conversation of our sport. But when time marches on and a new person garners the attention and conversation, Bumbi's career will carry more weight.
Congrats to Bumby, an underrated guy who was right in the mix for many years. Top 5 US runner for 3-5 years on the track, injuries got in the way a bit, wonder what would have happened if he hadn't had injuries to deal with, and if he'd stayed on the track. I think he went to Worlds one year and just missed Olympics at least once. 2:10.x marathon - respect!
