LEX YOUNG 14:27.11 4th SO all time

Was it a real race? Results are not in milesplit.

This is going to be the fastest year ever on the track for boys and girls. Expect most records to be broken. It seems that a few LetsRun posters can't seem to grasp this though. Tuohy and Young were great runners but there are better runners this year. And it won't stop there. There are some great sophomores and junior also. World records were broken in 5k, 10k, 1/2M, etc. Canadian records were broken American records were broken. The girls XC record was broken. Many course records were broken. Most high school track records will be broken also. People are just getting faster.

There is a guy on another running forum who knows Wisconsin distance running better than anyone I have yet to meet. He said, verbatim, all of Scherer's times have all been "tee ball" times thus far which I feel sums it up exactomundo. Scherer is good but cant run a mile to save his life. That is his weakness.

Not sure what that has to do with him nearly taking down the entire Newbury Park team or the scoring analysis for RunningLane. Okay, he will only run 4:10 this year or 4:15 this year. One American Fork guy beat him at RunningLane and one Niwot guy beat him. They scored 75 and 88 which it looks like would be about the same score that Newbury Park would have put up at the meet.

While Sherry and Puffer both broke 9 indoors as sophomore’s they both ran faster unofficially on an outdoor track when indoor nationals was cancelled. The linked video says they both ran 9:52 for two miles, which looks right based on the video. Maybe even under.

You're not making sense. Jack finished behind Newbury Park's 4th man at XC Town USA Meet of Champions in Terre Haute. So this already changes what you're saying. I would say his 9th place finish at RunningLane was a bad race because he raced the weekend before on a tough course in bad conditions.

Going off your philosophy Newbury Park would completely dominate all teams if you went off one guys results like Jack. The complete opposite of what you're trying to say. The point is you can not take one guy and think you understand another teams results.

Newbury Park is deep and young. It should be fun rude for them over the next 2-3 years.

I think you realize that he had the worst race of his life the week before. You are correct that you can't look at one runner and one performance. But another poster said that Newbury Park would have scored 20 points. You can see the analysis and understand it. I would put them on an even level as the 1st and 2nd place teams at Runninglane.
