Scratch what I just said....I see that 13-14 have the option of running in the 15-18.

So we'll have to see which race Prok and Michalak opt for.

Here is a video from the college D2 invite which shows some of the course. Looks like it is mostly flat but it was very windy that day. The 3rd place woman ran the 6K in 22:25. She had earlier run a 17:20 5K on the Huntsville AL course.

Thanks, so at least for that one girl this course was a lot slower that day than the AL course.

The meet director posted on another thread that they were finalizing their livestream arrangement and would be posting info about it.

I wrote him again just now...

why is rauber going to florida with less competition than the meet in texas? seems to be if you are flying from NY you wouldn't go to a meet that is an easy win you would actually go to a meet with real competition. It's not like her family cares about covid restrictions as she flew to arizona in the spring.

Rauber has been signed up for Tallahassee for a while. It is possible she switches to this one like Julia David-Smith has apparently done. But Tallahassee will not be an easy win. Zofia Dudek just signed up. And Riley Stewart who was second at Terre Haute will also give her some competition.

Vanderkooi is getting overlooked here because she doesn't run super fast solo races. But she always shows up when there is competition. Last year she won Footlocker Midwest over Dudek, Ewert, and Hart. She then ran 16:55 at FLN which would have won every FLN race but two since it returned to Balboa Park in 2002. Her speed rating of 166 from FLN is higher than Brown has ever gotten on these short TX courses. And Thorvaldson has only done better once. And there are indications that Vanderkooi is faster this year than last.

Hahaha, hey guys, her speed rating is so gooood and TX courses are so short, waaaaaaaaah waaaaaaah. Vanderkooi hasn't even broke 10:00 for 3200m, but TX courses are sooo short and TX runners just happen to luck out that track season has the best weather! No other reason they consistently run fast during track. Jeeze, even Brown ran a sub 10:00 early season outdoor race with no competition.

Also, since the TX state meet is such a short course, need I remind you:

Ouch!!! Those Michigan boys got beaten by a TX guy who won his short course state meet race in 14:51.85, while those Michigan guys ran 14:49.62 & 14:51.79 at their state meet. Maybe Michigan guys should stop running short courses? Sheesh, Vanderkooi only ran a 17:xx on a short Michigan course? She might not even beat the #2 TX girl if she keeps running like that.

Also, since speed ratings matter:

Yikes!!! Vanderkooi only 10th with a 155 speed rating this year. Brown #3 with a 165.

While I think Thorvaldson may be the better XC runner, Brown is the better track runner and this course isn't that difficult. So I'm going with Brown. Plus I'm from Texas.

I just re-watched the XC Town USA Meet of Champions and Sydney's race. I was watching how she hammered down in the cold and wind, and with the drive she had; ALONE out in front, and how she dominated.

She's a CLEAR favorite to completely obliterate this field tomorrow. I don't think Brynn will be even within 10 seconds of her...

I don't know which one will win. But I do know that there are about 5 of the fastest girls of all-time running this year. Track times will be silly fast. We have a group of high school girls who are going to do something similar to what the American women did to the top 10 list in the 5k this year.
